Let’s just make a simple idea. If you’re vulnerable or worried, stay home. If you’re not, go to the game.
Huge quantities of debt have been taken on, people have lost businesses, children have missed school, people have got divorced, people have committed suicide and we’ve all had our freedoms taken away for over a year.
The country has done a lot and paid a heavy price to protect the vulnerable.
Just a furtherance of national duty. We all had a duty to be housebound and impoverished to help the vulnerable . The vulnerable can help by not attending high transmission risk events 👍

How about a simple idea, why not take a test before you go to the game
Plenty available everywhere and would give you and the people around you peace of mind !

If you're nervous just don't come is a very selfish way of looking at things in my opinion.
I know an 82 year old man who has been a Rovers fans since going to his first game 70+ years ago. For the past 40 years he has gone to nearly every game, home and away. Rovers are his life. However, he has many underlying conditions and takes immunosuppressant drugs which means although he's had both jabs, the vaccine is not expected to be very effective. He recently did a test which pretty much confirmed he has no antibodies.
Personally, I don't think it's fair that people in this position should be forced to miss watching the team they've supported all their life because they're worried about catching a virus that would probably kill them.
If masks were made compulsory in a small area such as the South West Stand it would have no impact on fans in other parts of the ground so surely that's a win win.

I guess the issue with that is the club may have already sold season tickets in that area of the ground?

The EFL are leaving it too late to publish any guidelines in my opinion, it’ll be harder for smaller clubs to set up safety measures in the timeframe now.

After eighteen months of steamed up specs, my pocket lighter trying umpteen masks claiming to solve the problem, the last thing I want to do is spend most of the game wiping my specs clean.

Clubs should have probably been thinking about this prior to releasing season tickets.
I'm sure most vulnerable fans would have liked to be able to safely attend the games but it's probably too late now. They should however make iFollow available to season ticket holders so fans like the man I mentioned wouldn't be completely cut off from the club they've supported all their lives.

You do a test at home and have to report the results yourself….what could possibly go wrong there.

If it makes people feel safer, great, but a mask saving you from covid is like your underwear saving a fart. It only stops projectile sneezing and coughing, so it’s about as effective as a hanky. Stay home if you don’t want it.

So why is any one person more important? ‘If I have to wear a mask I won’t go is a choice you make.’ Whereas for vulnerable people going to a crowded place where people won’t wear masks is potentially fatal. They don’t have a choice. I don’t want to wear a mask. I’m not vulnerable. I’ve had both jabs. But if it meant other people would be able to go then I’d wear a mask. I’d much prefer to have a full ground of mask wearers than half that and lots of fans unable to go.

Stay home if you don’t want it. Wearing a mask stops you from passing it to others. Everyone knows it doesn’t protect you - by wearing a mask you demonstrate that you have consideration for people other than yourself. Your comment of ‘stay at home if you don’t want it’ is extraordinarily selfish. You could be kind and wear a mask to allow others to go. How difficult is that?

I also wear glasses. It’s a nightmare and has been a right pain - especially at work. But if it’s the price I have to pay for others safety then it seems like a minor inconvenience.

I would have thought fans would have to have a double jab or proof of a negative test before entering a stadium, not sure how you would prove this but has worked so far with concerts and sporting events.

A 10p disposable mask is as effective as our strikers last season
