Anyone know if these will be available to buy in person this season or just on line?
It is a bit of a rip off having to spend £30 odd for postage to Curtis Sports if we do manage to attend games.
The usual 50/50 prizes were around £800 to £1200 depending on the opposition/attendance/clubs position in the table.) etc. On line I think the highest was £200.
There must be a lot of people who buy as tradition and a few who have impulse buys at the ground, but sales will reduce massively if it is all on line.

Any news on this.
Not going today but would be interested to know if they are available in person today.
The club will lose a lot of money if they are not doing 50/50 and programmes (other than on line/postal) this season. Got to be £30k plus?

Rovers programme editor Rob McNichol resigned two weeks or so ago. The club trying to recruit another media person to take a scaled down print version.

Despite my moniker, I have not been on the committee for about 6 years but I have still sold programmes and 50/50 like I have for 20+ years.
I spoke to Phil Draper who advised that despite chasing the club for an update, the last they heard was a few weeks ago. At that time the SC were told that due to Covid regs, no cash sales can take place, so all programme and 50/50 sales are currently being dealt with by the football club on line.
Phil does not envisage any change before next Tuesday.
Financially this means the club is taking a big hit, with much reduced sales.
From a customer service point of view, it is not good. As the SC sellers go to the Welly, Drapers and are on the entrances to the stadium, fans do not usually have go much out of their way.
With the tribute to loved ones in Saturdays programme, this could lead to a few upset families if they are not used to the Mem, or on line activities and don't know where the shop is to buy a programme.
Potentially the shop could see 1,500 fans queuing to just get a 50/50 ticket. I doubt this will happen, especially if they watch from the West or South stands, so they probably won't bother buying one. This means less money to help develop our own young talent.
Hopefully usual service will resume shortly.

Thanks for this Dave was ironically going to start a thread about not seeing any programmes last night.
So for saturdays programme if I’m reading correctly I would need to order online ?

More to do with the club worried about the implications of unpaid volunteers selling programmes and 50/50 tickets in these covid times I would have thought. Would have thought using the food outlets and bars to sale these would have been quite an easy option.

Why was the cover of last nights programme in Newport County's colours? (Black and Amber)

The cynic in me says the club are slowly taking away the various activities of the SC. Steadily making them redundant.

Still no news on the vote for a new SC Director either. I feel for the many great volunteers who dedicate so much time to support the club in the SCs name. They have been dreadfully let down.

That's it in a nutshell. The volunteers are highly thought of so if there are no volunteers (as not needed), the SC has no place. I've long thought having a SC is essential in keeping a football club accountable to the fans but sadly ours repeatedly shot itself in the foot!

So you think the football club would deliberately "lose" revenue of £20-30 k, plus pay additional staff costs, just to get rid of the SC?

So you think the football club would deliberately "lose" revenue of £20-30 k, plus pay additional staff costs, just to get rid of the SC? No need to lose the revenue. Use the shop and have a stand inside each stand entrance selling programmes and 50/50 and they keep the revenue and can promote other things too!

My experience Tuesday night was that programmes were "only allowed to be sold from the food outlets, bars or from the main shop" - from speaking with the staff in the supporters club hut in the car park. Rather disappointing as a lot of fans have been used to buying as copy either before they get to the ground or in pubs (Wellington/Drapers etc) myself included. I normally buy a programme and round it up to a fiver with 50:50 tickets - much like lots of people in the Drapers in the past and no doubt in other pubs too. Once in the ground, I wasn't allowed access to the Butcombe Bar (may have been full, I can't recall) so blagged through gate behind stand and bought a copy in the club shop (cash). Later in the second half I noticed there was a large pile of unsold programmes on the counter of the snack bar behind the temp stand in East Enclosure near Thatchers End. Not the way I'd run it to be honest and I can see a material drop in sales if this persists - the sort of precurser to the club abandoning selling them at all and going online only?? I'd like to think we're better than that though ( ). Either way, and appreciating this isn't a big thing in the grand scheme, some clarity from the club would be helpful in maximising the "customer experience". Personally, I'm probably going to have to re-subscribe to the postal service for programmes - I'll leave until after Saturday for now. Probably a generational thing but I do like a pint and read of the programme amongst mates as part of the matchday build up.

Whatever you think of the SC,the club will be missing out on quite a lot of money by doing away with programmes and 50/50 tickets not being sold for cash outside. Prehaps it will change, just hope they will sort it out. And a BIG thank you to all the sellers who for years have stood outside in all winds and weathers from the club would not go amiss either.

Totally agree Pat, but is it the club who have let these wonderful people down or the supporters club and its directors?
