I've got a really bad feeling about the way this transfer window is going to finish up for us.
It's not helped by the fact that we are getting no reliable information from JB as from one week to the next he seems to contradict himself.... I just don't know what to believe anymore but I get the feeling of late that he's managing our expectations downwards!
I really hope he is able to pull a rabbit out of the hat because if not then I think promotion is very very unlikely although he will no doubt keep repeating the mantra that he "knows we're getting promoted" which in itself is a ridiculous statement to make as anyone with a brain can see that's impossible to know!
Fingers crossed the club and JB have been keeping their cards close to their chest and pull out an ace soon!
UTG!

Its yet another case of letting a striker go with no suitable replacement. We could say deja vu!

Yet he said he wouldn't let Hanlan go without an adequate replacement, and also that Wael wasnt forcing him to sell? "I think the fact he had the expiration date on his contract ticking away in the background, and we took him on a compensation (deal) which we had to pay in the summer, and within a short period he’s going to be a free transfer and be available to go, it was not an ideal situation. "We’re already short of strikers and Bran going has left us a bit short in that department, so there is work to do, but the financial package for the club has been accepted. "That goes outside my pay grade and is handed over further up the hierarchy. They feel it’s a good deal for the club, and I can’t disagree with that." That last paragraph tells me Barton has his excuse ready, the club sold Hanlon! I think Wael has backed him financially but there is a limit to what he can do in trying to virtually change the whole squad!

With Ronaldo resigning for Man U they may have one surplus to requirements?

With Ronaldo resigning for Man U they may have one surplus to requirements? In all seriousness, I really rate the young lad Charlie McNeill. Doubt they would loan him to us unfortunately. Scored against Lincoln on Tuesday.

Having whined and being very sceptical of Barton, I’m still glass half full and think we will win tomorrow with goals from Sammy, Collins and Pitman! It’s what makes us rovers fans i guess! Anyway. Off to watch the hammers tomorrow hoping they’ve not scored all their goals already. 🔨

Just to confirm, did we think promotion was hanging on keeping Hanlan? Window not closed let's keep the faith

This smells of last January when we missed out on Stockley and we all know what happened after that

Think he's been turned down by more than just Akinde, Mullin and Cosgrove. If they are all turning us down, then it's time to ask why? I'm not having a dig here so those that are pro JB, don't take it this way. To answer the question above, maybe some don't want to sign for a manager who has 2 assault charges against him and may think there is a chance he could get sacked so don't fancy the hassle. Players that he has been signing are pretty much his mates.

It looks like that we won't actually see any of the 'undisclosed fee' as will be going straight to Gillingham to pay off the compensation fee. So those funds won't be reinvested into buying a replacement!

As it stands we look a little way off in terms of how we want the squad to look but the window is still open. I'll wait until it closes before making any judgement, we've had signings arrive very late in previous windows when we'd all pretty much given up hope. It could be my memory playing tricks but wasnt it the JCH deal that happened after most of us had logged off and gone to bed cursing that we'd not signed a striker ?

This smells of last January when we missed out on Stockley and we all know what happened after that Yep , I bet we’re being played along by a couple of strikers. We think they’re in the bag , choice one and choice two…… neither will sign and we’ll do a last minute desperation signing ( Payne) or claim no one was available better than we already had in the building and we’ll look to the loan market.
