With Hanlan gone we desperately need a quality replacement. Preferable somebody with similar attributes.
We need someone with power & pace than can bully defenders and help us play the game in the oppositions half. Obviously we also need him to chip in with 15+ goals.
I've no idea how much Barton will be given to find a replacement - if anything - but assuming we have a maximum budget of £250k, who could we realistically look to sign?

Really not sure who is realistically available now - Barton is so up himself with signing his 'old mates' it's really hard to fathom his next move.
Personally i would try for Hylton at Luton and a bright pacey young striker on loan from somewhere.

I'm struggling to think of any potential signings that would be an adequate replacement for Hanlan. Hylton has had a reasonable career but 19 appearances last season and not a single goal would suggest at 32, his best years are behind him. Wouldn't be totally against signing him but I'm not sure he's the answer. As you say, so few options. I see Harrison has been linked with a move to Sheff Wed so that doesn't look realistic. I think Kabongo Tshimanga would have been a decent option before he signed for Chesterfield. I notice Wrexham have splashed out £200k+ to sign Cheltenham captain Ben Tozer, having already signed Paul Mullin. Shows players will come if the price is right.
A bit risky having be burned before, but are there any options in Scotland or Ireland that might be worth exploring?

For me the targets would include James Norwood, Danny Hylton, Georgie Kelly (Bohemians), Nick Blackman (free agent) or Rudy Gestede (free agent) and a younger one to develop like Alfie Stanley (free), Alfie Matthews (free), Jonny Kenny (Sligo Rovers), Colm Whelan (UCD) or Lee Bonis (Portadown).

Thought they'd be knocking on the door this year but we used Langlais ahead of them? Was hoping they would be close enough that we wouldn't have to look at young loans to plug the gaps.

Agreed they are 18/19 now. Either they are good enough and should be at least on the bench, or they are not good enough and should be allowed to find first team football at whatever level. Quite often younger players improve rapidly by being around better players The teds were playing Alex Scott from the start at 17, and just gave him a new 4 year deal. If he was at Rovers he'd be strung along and then released to Yate or somewhere.

I think James Norwood and Danny Hylton are maybe the most realistic. As I said, Hylton's form last season is a little concerning, no goals in 19 appearances. Might suggest at 32 his best days are gone. Norwood I think would score goals in L2, he's done it before and although he turns 31 next month, should still have a couple more good seasons.
Don't know anything about Georgie Kelly. His goals to games ratio is outstanding but why so few appearances? He turns 25 in November but has only played 17 games?
Nick Blackman looks a good option, although he to has played very little in the last couple of years. Do we know if he's looking for a move back to England?
Rudy Gestede seems a bit unlikely to me. I think he'd be a good signing if he could be persuaded. Again, do we know if he's looking for a move back to England?
Based on their current location, how often they've played over the last few years and their recent goal return, I think Norwood might be our best realistic option.

What about someone like Kayden Jackson on loan from Ipswich? Would be decent at L2 level?

Looks like Phillips may be off on loan somewhere and Hulbert isn't 100% fit.

Hylton has scored over 100 goals at League Two level and 21 goals the last time he played down here. He was in the Championship last season and has never looked a Championship player to me, so his goal record at that level is not a surprise. If you want proven you will struggle to find more proven than Hylton or Norwood in League Two. At age of 24 Georgie Kelly over in Ireland has 61 goals and 10 assists from 93 starts (61 sub apps) in all competitions. No idea if Gestede or Blackman want a move back here, but can't hurt to enquire

Kayden Jackson and Maxime Biamou would be my two realistic(ish) choices.

There are a few good options out there, wether we can attract them here is another matter. I was hoping we had someone lined up already for when Hanlan left, as it’s been known a while, but it doesn’t seem that’s the case. JBs interview today really didn’t leave me feeling optimistic, quite the opposite in fact. It almost sounded like we won’t find a replacement, cagey market, not much available, we have lots of work to do etc etc….. If we do not sign a striker or two, please not Clarke, I will be very disappointed and wonder if the club have learned anything from last season’s relegation

Rudy Gestede signed for a Greek team a few days ago. Thanks. Hadn't checked his status for a while, so that's the end of that!
