Who was the player on the highlights, late in the game, who tackled back, won the ball with a grat sliding tackle and then sprayed a great pass out to the left?? When it was centered he was at the far post very quickly. Superman

Got to be honest I did see his hardworking display at Harrogate but it's the sign of the times or how far we have fallen and the calibre of signings that Thomas is singled out as a potential star.
He still lacks confidence in and around the final third and when you compare him with say Billy Bodin, Lee Archer and even further back Bobby Jones and Harold Jarman he needs to add goals to his game.
His ability to draw a foul reminds me of Bodin and is still as Joe says a work in progress like most of the current squad.
Delighted at the defensive display at Harrogate particularly young Connor Taylor. We just need to replicate this at home games.

Thomas is a very good player at this level. Give him the ball and encourage him to attack the defence. There is no point sending high balls up to him. At Harrogate he received a short free kick in the left wing position and absolutely terrified the defence with a direct run that could have resulted in a goal.
We've got two players who are very good on the ball in attacking positions. Let's maximise their potential.
He is a real asset to the club.

How can you put Lee Archer in the same bracket as Billy Bodin, Bobby Jones and Harold Jarman, are you his Dad? Thomas looks class when he's playing with confidence, but that's the case with a lot of players. It's no coincidence that we struggled earlier in the session when he and Sammy Nic were injured.

Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on him? Great to see him back fully fit, and mentally well. he’s really starting to show his worth in a Gas shirt now. IMO he was the best player on the pitch for us on Saturday, heads and shoulders above the rest. When’s he’s got the ball at his feet dribbling at pace, he’s the best player in this league without a doubt, unstoppable. If he gets that final ball right, then he will be some player. Would be great to see him start getting on the score sheet more regular though, but he’s linking all of our play together going forward and we look so much better with him and Sammy Nicholson in the team. The boy has got some talent, and an excellent work rate. Vital we keep him fit for any hope of getting into the play offs this season. Definitely seems to be enjoying it with us, and being back close to home. Welcome to the forum, Luke Personally I think you've looked very decent in the times we've seen you. Really looking forward to having you back to full fitness and seeing more of you - very exciting player!

Great to see Thomas come on Saturday and play a part in the final goal.
I hope this is the start of a return to the team for him. He’s by far the most talented footballer we have at this club.

I like him and hope we can sign him permanently. As for being our most talented player some might put Nicholson, Evans and Finley ahead of him.

I loved the pass from Luke very unselfish and killed the game at 4 2, hope he is happy to stay permanently, as his Forest home is so close and must be a deciding factor.

I like him and hope we can sign him permanently. As for being our most talented player some might put Nicholson, Evans and Finley ahead of him. I don’t know about that word talent. All these players have worked incredibly hard to get where they have got to. It’s small margins then as to who goes on to the very top and who doesn’t. Just look at Evans - possibly our player of the season so far, or if not, then narrowly behind Taylor. He is extremely skilful but the ability he has to turn both ways effortlessly, that takes years of repetitive practice. The dead ball delivery also comes from a lot of repetition in training over many years. He oozes class at this level and yet, something has clearly stalled his development along the way as he was playing for England under 18s alongside the likes of Alexander-Arnold. Maybe some bad choices, maybe a lack of confidence at a particular time of his development, who knows. He surely looks destined to go back up the football ladder. I’d love Luke Thomas to become a Gas hero, enjoy his football, find contentment in his life and stay around for a good few years. Whether that will be allowed to happen with Barton at the helm is very doubtful.

Didn’t think we’d see him play for us again after the JB outburst and the fact he was an unused sub in the 2 previous games, when circumstances looked ideal for giving him a run out.Thought he looked as keen as mustard against Rochdale and chased back at full pace to held the defence a couple of times.Hope he gets a start soon as we could have an awesome attack if we can get him firing.Probably go elsewhere in the January window if he’s still not getting much game time.

I feel a bit uneasy about this one. Feels like Barton is patting himself on the back for coming out publicly. I'm still far from convinced Luke Thomas has turned a corner after one decent cameo appearance (good assist for the goal but handed on a playlte by the opposition). He's clearly a talented player but so many are..

Luke Thomas has the ability and pace to be a Championship player. The sad thing is he is languishing on the bench of a mid table L2 team. If he could only get somewhere near to realising his potential he would be a fantastic player at this level.

Yeah he just needs to start showing it on the pitch. I thought he was trying a bit too hard previously, and maybe was playing for himself rather than the team? Undoubted talent though would be a shame if he didnt realise it
