Harsh pen? (although I thought it was at time) Unfortunate for GW second yellow also?

Very harsh penalty. Northampton player could of moved out of the way for the sending off, but choose to plant his feet, definitely got Whealan sent off.

Hard to see on the screen but in real life from the half way line it looked as if the penalty should have gone the other way and been a free kick.
Up until about the 30th minute I thought the ref was controlling the match well. Then he lost the match and reffed us very harshly.
What is it that seemingly leads to us being harshly reffed? I know I’ve got blue tinted glasses on, but we seem to be on the harsh end of decisions over the last 18 months or so.

In no way should Whelan have been booked for that challenge.
It all happens in such slow motion and there was absolutely no intent to take the player.
Poor decision.

Obviously the cameraman packed up early and missed the last 5 second goal line clearance. Was it Taylor ?

He gave the penalty in their next attack. You would like to think it was a coincidence, but he seemed annoyed at the time😂

Radio Bristol were saying that the first yellow was for dissent, stupid if so. Assumed it was a late decision on the tackle but perhaps not.

Surprisingly you can't, fortunately he'll only miss the Oxford game and can now have a week off, with Robinson suggesting in his post match interview that he intends making 7 or 8 changes including Taylor, who's apparently got an arm injury(!), then perhaps he won't be that bigger a loss.

Hilarious! As it was in front of Thatcher's End, and if we were attacking and same scenario was reversed......................?
I know I would have shouted PEN!

Also, Whelan sending off: What the hell is he sliding in studs up for, on a booking, as Captain?
He gave the ref opportunity.
It could have cost us, he was lucky everyone rallied, but soft booking or not it was a reckless decision to take when there were other options.

I agree. when you slide in that early you are not in control and anything could happen. Knowing he was already on a booking he should have played it safe

The Northampton player just screamed like a 2 year old who has just had his teddy taken off him. They were doing this all match. They have a history of play acting/gamesmanship/time wasting (even the ref had to warn their keeps first half time wasting....not the second half though?🤔). So why provoke it when you're on a booking? We have to be better than that.
