Strange timing to make the announcement, given that Barton could also be departing soon! We could play DC's Port Vale next week w/o a DoF and a manager. Gorringe surely can add being first team coach to his roles ?

I think he is implementing the findings of the Colonel's root and branch review of the club - with Tom's appointment as CEO being stage one. I don't think Joey's going anywhere, unless he gets banged up. What does the Colonel know about running a football club? I'm not saying that his recommendations are necessarily the best course of action. I believe he carried out a similar excercise at Fleetwood. Management structures are interchangeable within many different types of organisations, sometimes a fresh pair of eyes from a different background can spot things that others wouldn't. As long as it doesn't extend to picking the team!

Need a suitable replacement as chief scout ASAP acting in the clubs best interests. i.e. not one of Barton's mates or minders. Get yourself in there Pirate….

Fair play. Tom Gorringe is hitting the ground running! Surely the final decision on who stays and leaves on the board is with the owner not TG. He may have left of his own free will, same with Starnes , who knows why they left.

I don’t think we as fans appreciate sometimes how crucial these sorts of decisions are in deciding the future fortunes of the football club. So, so important that we do this swiftly and get it right..

IMO I don't think Joey Barton will be departing anytime soon. Widdrington departing now reinforces my belief - there is not room I'm sure, for both at the Club.

My point was a little tongue in cheek, but 2 sizeable stories in one week and we may get another on Monday.
I didn't get the feeling that TW was the sort of guy to voluntarily fall on his sword, but maybe I'm wrong. Its clear that there was a fractured relationship between Joey and Tommy, so something had to give.

He may have left of his own free will, same with Starnes , who knows why they left. the final decision will have been the owners but he has obviously empowered TG to introduce changes and is certainly going to back him. Anything else would be seen as undermining the CEO's position

With TW gone and last year’s players more or less shipped out and several coaches gone WAQ is running out of people to blame for our current position. Getting promotion at BRFC looks to be worrying, those who get it find themselves leaving months later, TW, two managers, various coaches. If the major is responsible for this ‘whole club review’ then I’ve yet to see his experience or hear about what makes him qualified to do so. I’d say it’s worrying but I guess only time will tell.
I suppose now that TW has gone some will have their scapegoat and be pleased.
Oh well UTG!
