I have to say I'm finding some of these comments quite insuting to the rest of the Rovers players and league 2 in general, 'wtf is he doing in league 2 and 'to good for us' to name a couple, he's a really good player yes but we also have other good players playing for us like Belshaw, Evans, Coutts, Finlay, Nicholson, Colins, Taylor the list goes on, maybe the rest of the team brings the best out in him? Just a thought. I dunno.. last night he just seemed insanely good. Every time he got the ball you could see him doing something. Putting opposition players on their arses and with a superb end product generally too. Sure we have other good players, but last night especially, he was just a different class imo

So far removed from the wet lettuce wonder kid we had from chelsea when dc was in charge Which one? I thought Charlie Colkett was quite decent (I enjoyed his winner against Northampton and his memorable performance against MK Dons). Jake Clarke-Salter had a few mistakes in him, but I wouldn't call him a wet lettuce.

Last nights performance reminded me of some of Wayne Rooney’s performances in the group stage of Euro 2004. Colchester couldn’t deal with his directness and sheer ability and strength on the ball.

So far removed from the wet lettuce wonder kid we had from chelsea when dc was in charge Charlie Colkett was good I thought. Scored great goals at Oldham away and the winner at Northampton. Also remember a superb piece of skill where he back heeled it first time while it was in the air to Jake Clarke-Salter who set up Matty Taylor to claim a draw at MK Dons. No doubt, Elliot Anderson will have a far better career but to call Charlie Collett a 'Wet Lettuce' is a tad unfair.

Colkett had one or two flashes of skill but on the whole was very anonymous and lightweight. Swindon fans seem to think the same..

He also completely changed the line up the following game after a 6-0 win at Northampton. He also hardly played Connor Roberts who's got 34 caps for Wales and played in Euros and Oli Mcburnie as well. DC had his methods, one of which was not really trusting loan players. Don't think you can read much into that

I have suggested to Eddie Howe than in order for him to realise his full potential ,he needs a second year with us. Suggest we strike a deal with NUFC whereby similar potential youngsters are loaned to us for the future ……..and once we gain Championship status after next season.😀 They also gain senior recognition at a higher level with us once they have proved themselves at the current level haha….This should not be a one-off. Why Rovers? obvious links with JB helps the youngsters gain confidence away from the comforts of home - well away from the north east. A great life experience ! proven track record that we actually play them ( Sion Spence from Palace excluded - that was the exception) it also sets the benchmark for our younger players to aspire to …..and why not? NUFC will be the new Man City sooner rather than later and it’s a win-win situation all around as their youngsters grow in tandem with our fantastic roadmap to European football with the next 5 years in tandem with moving into our new stadium.
plus any players who don’t quite make it could be well suited to stay on, if good enough.
Or was I dreaming all that?
onwards and upwards UTG.

Bristol Rovers boss Joey Barton is "excited" by the potential of Newcastle United loanee Elliot Anderson.
The 19-year-old midfielder has scored in both of Rovers' past two games, including the only goal in Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Colchester United.
The win over the U's saw the Pirates move into the League Two play-off places for the first time this season.
"I'd have paid to watch him, he was that good," Barton told BBC Radio Bristol.
Anderson joined Rovers from the Premier League club in January on a deal until the end of the season.
"I think to get the goal early in the second half just caps a wonderful individual performance, but also a young player growing into the shirt," added Barton. "We're delighted to have him."
Barton described how he has spent hours listening to audio of Bill Shankly recently, citing memories the legendary Liverpool manager had of watching a young Diego Maradona play.
Shankly made comparisons between a teenage Maradona and former England international Sir Tom Finney, widely considered one of the best to have ever played football.
Barton stressed it was too early to say Anderson was at their level but said he had potential.
"I've been listening a lot to Bill Shankly in the last couple of days," said Barton. "He talks about a 19-year-old Diego Maradona and he's talking about how good of a player he thinks he's going to be, and he compares him to Tom Finney. He says Tom Finney is the greatest player he's ever seen.
"He said the difference with Tom was when he faced you up and looked at you he could also take you on, but then when he got in and around the penalty area he slowed down and he was mega calculated.
"When I see young Billy Elliot [Anderson], it's far too early to compare him to those greats over the years, but he certainly excites you."
Anderson has featured in all 12 of Rovers' fixtures since his arrival, also scoring in the win at Stevenage in February and Saturday's 3-0 victory over Harrogate. The in-form team have only lost twice in those matches, winning seven of them, to climb the table.
"I thought he was a real stand-out performer on the park and that was in the midst of some great players. There were some good performances and good players out there" Barton continued.
"But I thought he showed a different gear, another level."
Anderson joined Newcastle at the age of eight and made his Premier League debut in January 2021 as a late substitute against Arsenal, in what is his only league appearance for the Magpies so far. He also featured in the FA Cup for the team the same month.
Speaking before Newcastle's match with Everton on Thursday, manager Eddie Howe was similarly full of praise for Anderson.
"When we came in you could see he was a player with undoubted quality, I'd heard a lot of good things before working with him," Howe said.
"Great attitude, stayed behind every day to work on certain aspects of his game. He was aware that he needed to go and play, we wanted that for him. Delighted he's doing so well.
"I think he can play a lot higher than League Two but he's taken his opportunity and yes, we'll have to review like we do with every player in the summer."

I know he is only on loan but how good is it to see our name in an international squad: Scotland U21 squad Elliot Anderson (Bristol Rovers); Harrison Ashby (West Ham Utd); Scott Banks (Crystal Palace); Connor Barron (Aberdeen); Jack Burroughs (Ross County); Josh Campbell (Hibernian); Tom Clayton (Liverpool); Josh Doig (Hibernian); Lewis Fiorini (Lincoln City); Ross Graham (Dundee Utd); Jay Henderson (St Mirren); Scott High (Huddersfield Town); Nicky Hogarth (Nottingham Forest); Marc Leonard (Brighton); Lewis Mayo (Partick Thistle); Glenn Middleton (St Johnstone); Calvin Ramsey (Aberdeen); Zak Rudden (Dundee); Cieran Slicker (Manchester City); Connor Smith (Queen's Park); Stephen Welsh (Celtic); Ben Williamson (Raith Rovers) Haven't we had plenty in the Wales U21s in recent years?

Perhaps he’s waiting for an England call up, according to his Wikipedia account whilst he represented Scotland at U17,18 & 19s he switched his allegiance back to England & played an U19 friendly.
