Was christened Billy by JB Apparently he danced around everyone in training when he joined the club so he got the name Billy Elliott after the famous tap dancer I think you’ll find he was a fictional ballet dancer not tap……….

Plus it was the players who named him Billy not JB. Although JB's now getting stick from Talk Sport for comparing him to Maradona, not that he actually did anyway.

It was stated that Luton would not promise enough game time so that deal fell through lae on, giving us the chance. Interestingly Mick Harford from Luton was in the East stand last night unfortunately 😞 I'd say fortunately, he's way above this league. Luton can have him if he's loaned elsewhere. Imagine if he liked Bristol so much that he'd stay if a championship team came in for him 😥

A real shame we couldn't have kept last season's star loan,Luke McCormick who is doing well at Wimbledon. Not sure if we showed any interest in keeping him but was outstanding for much of his time with us. A team of young skilled talent with a few older heads is making for some great performances, Luke would have slotted in well.

(See also Tis thread) - He, like others from last season, is in the relegation dogfight. Does that say the same about him as some are saying about others?

If he was still at Rovers then I doubt we'd have signed Evans to replace him, of the two I'd take Evans. Not really sure what season he's having at Wimbledon but it's looking highly likely he'll be relegated again come May now that Gillingham are putting a few results together. Who was the poster who claimed last season Wimbledon were an established L1 side?

On McCormick, I saw him play for Wombles at Boreham Wood in the FA Cup a few months back, perhaps just an off day but he was a shadow of the player we had last season. The unfiltered version would be “sh**e”.

Former Newcastle chief scout Graham Carr (now on the board at Northampton Town) can STFU though "This loan move looks like it has done him the world of good. He could get Bristol promoted this year. But it’s a waste of time sending him out again. He will be bordering on the first-team next season, and he should definitely be part of the squad."

Top, top scout and if he says those things you can trust them to be true. Back in the late 70s he was manager down here at Weymouth and one year we were living in Weymouth and I watched Weymouth for that season most home games. He was an old fashioned full back, tough as nails. Weymouth were then in top non league division and one of the best non league sides before automatic promotion. Carr has discovered lots of players I think and is very well respected and his word will be listened to. Looks like we are fortunate to be enjoying Elliot in our team, even if it’s only for this season. I hope we take full advantage. UTG!

Clearly destined for big things and unlike other loan signings/players out of contract in our squad, we have no chance of getting him back next season regardless of the division we are in.
I am just pleased we have been able to be part of his development for 6 months and fingers crossed his first taste of senior football ends on a high with promotion.

I don't think Barton did him any favours with the public Maradona analogy. If he wasn't targeted before he will be now

Wishful thinking in the extreme to think Billy will be back with us next season! (sadly)

I don't think Barton did him any favours with the public Maradona analogy. If he wasn't targeted before he will be now To be fair, I would imagine at this level that the vast majority of teams will do some kind of opposition scouting and if his talent wasn't picked up on in those reports, regardless of what JB has said in the press, then those scouts aren't worth their money!

What’s not to stop JB picking the next rising talent from the likes of Newcastle for example as he has the contacts and can be trusted to aid their development.

Unlike previous incumbents (in the main) Joey is helping develop the young players who come in on loan and they're getting plenty of game time. Obviously there's the odd exception, but they are very much just that. As a result, you'd hope we'd be well placed to get highly thought of talent in future also.
