I don't think Barton did him any favours with the public Maradona analogy. If he wasn't targeted before he will be now True -- But if they're going to put two players on him that will leave somebody else spare. ……or six!

As a neutral (don't support either England or Scotland) I hope he does choose England, born in Whitley Bay and 'qualifies' for Scotland cos of a Scottish Grandmother. Need to do away with these loopholes (although rugby is way worse), either born in the country or have at least a parent born their.

His maternal grand father Bob Allen born in Newcastle played for England youth team and at 17 made his European fairs cup debut in 1968 for United against Feyenoord. By age 24 he had to retire after serious injury.

By age 24 he had to retire after serious injury. What about his Grandmother? Maybe she was Scots? Maybe he owes some respect to his Scottish ancestry as I do my Irish ancestry? I love the Irish, and I love Eire just as much as I love my English ancestry here in Bristol, England.

If I was playing I would consider playing for Eire, and with love and respect for my mam and my late Grandmother (died 17th Feb 22' aged 89)
I would love to wear an England shirt too if I'm honest, but having dual English/Irish nationality I'm buggered with decision making 😂 😂 😂

Fantastic news! 💙
Joey Barton said:
“Losing him would have been a big blow due to his form and how well he’s done for us, so it’s a real positive.
“I’m not sure on the nature to see whether he’s hanging out to see if Brazil or Argentina or somewhere come. Or whether he’s had an agreement with Scotland but I’ll have to ask him.
“All I know is that he’s here and he’s available for Saturday and we’re delighted with that.”
😂👏👏👏

I 100% agree with that, if you feel an affinity to the country of your grandmother fair enough but if you and your parents and 3 of your grandparents weren't why feel that stronger than the country of you, your parents and 3 of you grandparents birth? And to call someone out because they wanted to play for the country they were born and brought up in rather than the one one of your grandparents was born in seems a bit odd. With regards to Anderson, if he has a choice between England and Scotland it would be strange if he chose Scotland if England have shown an interest, most players who end up playing for their grandparents country do so because they haven't got a chance to play for their country of birth so it's just a way of playing international footie, to be fair I'd do that

I'm sure anyone would be 'honoured' to play international football for their mother's country or in fact just to play international football would be an honour, but for a lot of journeyman players who wouldn't get near the England squad finding a grandparent from somewhere is a way in. I'm thinking of the likes of Hal Robson -Kanu for Wales who'd never set foot in Wales before he played for us and was never going to get near the England team.

Usually your parents influence your nationality a bit too. My wife comes from an Anglo Welsh/Irish family, her mum being born in England to Irish parents, her dad is Welsh, born in Cardiff to a Welsh Father and whose mum is from London. My wife was born in Coventry, grew up in North Wales but sees herself as more English/Irish whereas her brother declares himself to be fully Welsh.

……or six! Love that photo GOAT Must be a bit of an ego boost to see 60% of the outfield players marking you, and 100% of those looking scared sh!tless.
