Ah, slow on the uptake, as usual. I suppose I'd Google if I wanted to know where to see a game, no idea if the Bristol Post covers local women's football? That's the point Tilly. Without the Oxygen of media coverage local football will never grow. Women's sport is way behind the 8 Ball on this. It has to change, the kids need and deserve it. I guess that it's a chicken and egg situation as far as the local media is concerned, it's all about clicks and income for them.

Plenty of the local media cover the Gas Girls (and the other lot) Off the top of my head I can name GasCast, Bristol 24/7, the Post, the Bristol Cable as well as the club posting about them on social media and having a game at the Mem back in April after the FGR game This Euros will push women's football further into the spotlight, like it did after they got to the semis of the WC back in 2019 With any luck it won't be long before we see the GasGirls playing their home games at the Mem

Compare that to the utter dross the men's team play that performance last night was the best England performance any England team has put out since 1966 If that team played the Rovers team that played on Saturday they would slaughter us USA women's world cup champions side played a under 17 college boys team in the US and lost 5-2, although it is great to see our women's team win something the gap between Women's and men's football is massive . You say that the England women would be the gas but that is very unlikely. But it is as good that girls and women's football is now recognised and they can make a profession out of it . I feel obligated to point out that was a 'scrimmage' which is American for a knock about And it was in 2017. Women's football has come on leaps and bounds since then

My 8 year old niece is a goalkeeper, she's been playing for about 18 months, and loves it. Great to see so many girls are now interested - for their generation it will be the norm to play football. How do we watch women's football in Bristol? Women's football fixtures normally take place on Sundays, same season as the men's game. Highest local team in the pyramid is Bristol City. They play at our neighbors training ground in Failand in the second tier of women's football. Bridgwater and Cheltenham are both in the third tier. If those are a bit far, Keynsham and Portishead are your next highest placed local teams as far as I know. Just one tier below are our own gas girls. They have a very professional setup in comparison to their rivals. Paid coaches, strength and conditioning coach, media team. Hey behind these guys and they can climb the echelons. They play home games at Lockleaze in the South West Regional Women's Football League Premier Division. I'm sure fixtures are published by the community trust. You can also find them on the fa full-time website. Next season's fixtures are not out yet though. Hope this helps.

just realised that the Man city women's team football manager is Gareth Taylor, scored a brace that took us to Wembley in the mid 90's, unfortunately we couldn't keep hold of him,(no surprise there) and he landed up at crystal Palace and now making a important contribution to women's football.

Elite male athletes will probably always be able to compete with more speed and power than their female counterparts. Football is however for everyone. The skill and dedication required to be at the top level is the same for all, and deserves equal respect from us fans. Maybe I'm biased as I have two daughters that are both keen footballers. I want them to have similar role models to the ones I had growing up. But I was at Wembley yesterday and I enjoyed every moment as much as I would have had it been the men's team - and that's the way I think it should be.

There's a lot more of this kind of attitude in football than in other sports. When Paula Radcliffe broke the marathon world record I don't recall many saying that it doesn't count because it's not as fast as the men's. Serena Williams and Steffi Graf weren't compared unfavourably with their male counterparts. Sadly there are so many dinosaurs still airing their views in football. It's still 30 years behind sport specifically and society in general in terms of social attitudes.

If your adrenelin is pumping and someone grabs your legs after a foul what would you do? I know my reply wouldnt be that favourable as to invite them around for afternoon tea.

I remember watching the womens world cup a few years back and thinking it was pretty slow, pretty boring and that it was almost like going and watching a game that you would see on a soggy Saturday in the western league. However its become much more professional and boy does it show.

It is the women that are the dinosaurs, other than the one or two women who I see at football, with perhaps one exception I don't know any women who like football. I managed to get my wife to watch two games with me one at Wembley the other the Millennium stadium , one of at the millennium stadium my daughter came along as she thought she could do some shopping at my expense, she was mistaken. My other daughter is stonewall anti football, she won 50.00 pounds on her savings bonds with out telling her I cashed in her winnings and bought a ticket to watch a game at the Mem and gave the rest of the winnings to her as a sweetner to go along , to this day she thinks her stupid Dad paid out 50 quid to get her to see a match, anyway she has never watched a game since. Most women think football is boring, rubbish, waste of energy etc, I didn't see the match on Sunday as my daughter came around. Unfortunately meany people get brainwashed by the BBC and probably think every women wants to play/ watch football and men are trying to stop them, usual crap and lies by the BBC.

Unfortunately meany people get brainwashed by the BBC and probably think every women wants to play/ watch football and men are trying to stop them, usual crap and lies by the BBC. Why are women dinosaurs because they don't get football? Like the old farts of the FA most men have kept girls/women away from football in the past. That said I was introduced to the Gas by my girl cousin and she is definitely not a dinosaur! In general though football has never become part of their psyche. Even when it is it doesn't always translate into people getting involved. From a male perspective take my son. He has never enjoyed football, plays rugby, and hates the diving and play acting. It's not that being a rugby man he hates Wendyball. I tried to introduce him to it at a young age. He has just never liked it and was a better rugby player than footballer. The Gas have quite a number of very knowledgeable and trail blazing women supporters compared to a lot of Northern teams I've seen and women are becoming more interested over all. In most cases in the past they have never had the chance to be interested or even participate and the idea was that they never would be. Times have changed. Women are not dinosaurs [dinosaurs are extinct by the way] they are just being given the freedom to reach the heights they were banned and ostracised from previously. The world has moved on.

I suggest next time you go to the Mem you have a good look around you, there are loads of females who go to watch the Gas, love football and have been going for years! As for the woman's game I have never been a big fan but it certainly seems to have improved. p.s I have 4 brothers and none of them are interested in football,me have been going since the 60's.

There was a couple of 'experts' banging on about putting lots of money into the WSL. No no no. Granted a lot of money has been spent but focus needs to be on grassroots, if enough youngsters are interested the cream of the crop will make their way to the top. Just focusing on WSL could result in it just ending up like the premiership. English talent on the sidelines with highly paid players getting the games. That's a very general view but you get my point

Two of my closest friends who are female are lifelong Rovers. One a season ticket holder since 2006 and the other 95! Also have no less than 5 mates who all attend Rovers home and plenty of away with their partners. As mentioned, there’s no shortage of women/girls attending the Mem on match days and long may that continue. Ironically the poster claiming the women are the dinosaurs couldn’t have sounded more prehistoric if they tried!
