Im totally guessing but... With the clean slate thing perhaps TC was given a real opportunity to change something (what i have no idea). That didnt happen so the chance is now gone.
I guess the announcement gives all 3 chance to find clubs before the window closes.
With the dwindling squad size im again guessing that JB has a few things ready to put in place player wise.
So expect 2 attacking midfielders 2 left backs. 2 centrebacks. 1 defensive/pressing midfielder.

Heres the way I see it. We knew Anderton was poorly, probably in the middle of the summer and we needed something in as cover there becuase we also knew Josh Grant wouldnt be ready for pre season from last seasons injury so Clarke was the cover. But after a full pre-season and a game, its strikingly obvious that Clarke isnt up to it (it was obvious saturday) so now is the opportunity to do something with him. It does say a lot when a right footed right winger goes to LWB and does considerably better than a left footed, left back by trade has done for 60+ previous minutes. Clarke signed his new contract at the beginning of June, Rovers didn't know about Nick Anderton's situation then. I thought that Clarke had a reasonable pre-season, and to write him off after one league games seems rather extreme.

Were we really better in defence with Anderson, as we conceded one goal and almost conceded one before we scored the equaliser. Regardless after watching Clarke for a full season JB, oddly in my view, thought he was worthy of a 2 year contract but after just 1 game has now given him the boot.

Perhaps Clarke triggered a new contract, sounds like something has happened post match at FGR. I am glad JB is not taking prisoners! I trust his judgement.

The other part of this was his comments about bringing through academy players. With my optimistic head on it's good to bring players on but this, coupled with Barton's comments on having to clear the decks, does make me wonder if it's purely cost cutting driving this

Can you pay on the day at Burton? I have a ticket but have two mates staying this weekend and they would like to go.

Don't understand getting rid of Clarke tbh. Played well in pre season, wasn't the worse player in the side on Saturday.
Liklihood is that they fell out after Joeys comments on Saturday.

The Clarke situation may impact the budget if all or some of his contract is to be paid off. Same with other two but that's not due to JB.

Well he's made the right call on Westbrooke and Rodman in my opinion, both need moves to resurrect their careers.
The Trevor Clarke situation is confusing from an outsiders perspective, but I'm sure JB has his reasons for it.
I quite like ruthless management, in the past in League One we've held onto ineffectual players for too long and it has cost us.
Fingers crossed for incoming signings soon, as we are now a bit light on depth to say the very least.

Something must have happened. We are defensively so threadbare now. Lucky Burton. well yeah, he called out Clarke on Saturday Clarke probably had some words back in training/private and why wouldn't you after he gave you a contract and then basically said you weren't good enough after the first game of the new season

Gives Clarke a new contract, then bizarrely throws him under the bus and now has to get rid just so he doesn’t look stupid. Christ Hard to comment fully without knowing the full context. Any chance to have a dig though at Joey, fair play. Not “any reason to have a dig” at all. Joey has completely had a balls up here and now our already thin squad is looking even worse. His handling of situations is questionable every single time
