I have broken this down into 12 still photos but cannot upload them - Arhhh!
But, this is really winding me up now - especially as some are trying to justify the play acting by Bayliss, or just getting it plain wrong. Yes, the commentary did allege/suggest it was a punch 'leading with a fist' - but they got it wrong too.
The referee had already blown the whistle to stop play for (I think) an offside. Bayliss reached out with his hand to grab the ball in the air. Rossiter ( and yes no need to do what he did at all - but I guess he wanted to retrieve the ball before Bayliss could) - But Rossiter jumps up with his elbow forward, BUT NOT to elbow their player, he jumps up and swings out sidewards, hitting the ball with the side of his fist, hitting the ball away from Bayliss and out of his hand. They come together when he lands and as Rossiter's arm comes back across his body may have made contact on Bayliss' shoulder or back of his head. It is very hard to see, even when freezing the frame. However, any contact to their player was unintentional and minimal. it was certainly no more than two players challenging for a header - except their heads did not come together.
Bayliss then holds the back of his head, goes down like he has just been hit with a baseball bat to the back of the head, he rolls one way, then the other, curls up, and just for good measure, to ensure Rossiter was sent off - because that was exactly what he was trying to do - he stamps his feet several times to emphasise the extreme pain that he was pretending to have experienced.
I thought so watching it live at the time, and I can 100% see watching frame by frame that Bayliss was feigning injury and was deliberately cheating to get Rossiter sent off. And let's not concentrate on whether there was any contact or not, but was there enough contact to warrant a foul, and more importantly warrant that pathetic reaction - the answer is NO!
As I have said in another post, this was clearly a cheating tactic from the start, feigning injuries, roll about, waste time and hopefully rack up the free kicks and bookings against us. And here was a fantastic opportunity to reduce us down to ten men. They were clearly pleased with this particular display and there was a sneaky thumbs up between Bayliss and another of their players, as he was receiving treatment. They obviously thought it was a job well done, but only managed to run the clock down a few extra minutes, as the incident was not seen by the officials - although how they missed it I have no idea - they only had to follow the ball!
The real frustration is that Cotterill has now used this to further deflect from his team's most shocking, shameful display.
UTG!

Ridiculous. As it wasn't seen it's investigated. If the ref sees it but gets it wrong nothing happens. The challenge on Anderson in the first couple of minutes was a yellow but they won't review as the ref & linesman saw it. Was a later challenge around the centre spot where the Shrewsbury 'player' jumped the challenge but rolled over anyway. Trying to get someone booked, again seen - but missed - so nothing happens. Why's it ridiculous? I mean what is he trying to do there exactly?! What an idiot! My reply was before the video appeared. I thought that the rule was only if refs missed it. Looks like he saw that and thought nothing of it. If that's not the rule then can we have the video of physio not treating a head injury when a player went down with one or the player avoiding a challenge but still rolling around

Couldn't make the game as was on holiday but the video doesn't look great for Rossiter.

Yes, but that still is misleading, as it looks like Rossiter is leading with the elbow - jumping into their player (Bayliss) - he was not.
What happened before that frame, for those who have not watched the video closely, is that Rossiter had already swung his arm out, away from Bayliss, hitting the ball with the side of his fist, and out of Bayliss' hand.
What your still shows is after hitting the ball away, Rossiter's body shape turns in towards Bayliss, as his arm returns back across his own body. Both players had attempted to swipe the ball in the air.
I emphasise once again, any actual contact with the player was unintentional and minimal. And certainly did not warrant the reaction it did.

Obvious handball from their player.

I agree. However, I think that the fact they have asked for his response after they must have looked at it many times suggests to me that they have already decided that he is guilty.

The still is irrelevant as the video clearly shows Rossiter leading with his elbow, even if the contact was minimal and the Shrews player overreacted Rovers will do well to get the charge overturned. I wouldn't be surprised if Rovers just accepted the charge and take the 3 match ban, which I assume will include the JPT game.

I have slowed this down and Rossiter DOES strike the guy in the head. I’ve watched it frame by frame and the lads head pivots on impact, cannot fake that.
Rossiter sweeps his hand to his right to get the ball, but then brings it back round and that’s where the impact happens.
It may not have been intentional, but after backhanding the ball, his forearm returning his the guy in the face.
You know how much I was looking for this to not be the case, but I can’t really argue with the truth.
He elbows the ball away but keeps his arm bent and follows through on their guy.

I watched it in real time and now again … Same conclusion - Rossiter what on Earth are you doing ? Absolute nonsense…. Especially against a team of cheats .
Will probably get a three match ban - Another of our new signings missing a batch of games. To be fair though Rossiter has been pretty poor so far this season.

Watching it back , he leads with his arm but makes contact with ball first , u could say why’s he going to handle it but think it was just instinct !

If the FA are going to get into every incident they didn’t punish then I certainly look forward to the investigation of the Pompey elbow to Belshaws head, for consistency.

Thats a bit harsh though 3 game ban for deliberate handball , like u say a FK would of been sufficient! 😂

His theatrics after it were definitely instinct trained into him. Not a mark on him and quite clearly nothing wrong with him. If Rossitor gets banned, definitely a case of a cheat prospering.

At worst the contact is minimal, the writhing/kicking around and (no doubt) screaming, is truly hideous.

Watched it twice and still can’t make out what actually happens . Need to see it slow motion I think ! If he’s whacked him he’s def in for at least a 3 match ban . If you pause it, there is a cog icon. Clicking on that will allow you to slow it to 0.25 speed.

I agree and what about the incident with Marquis with Oxford where the guy pushed him in the face. I think it doesn't look good for Rossiter (from what I can see on the replay), but it's in the refs line of sight so shouldn't be retrospectively punished.
