Does anyone have any experience of this situation.
I popped in to buy a christmas present. I obviously forgot to enter my reg into the machine and have just received a parking charge dated 19.12.22 (due to postal strike I guess) for £100 (to late for the £60 within 14 days).
Any previous experience or advice would be appreciated.
If I have to pay it. I just won't go to the Mem for the rest of the season so as to recoup my money.
Yet another ingenious upgrade to make fans feel at home. It’s feckin nasty. As other posters have said - the club needed to do something as the car park was being used as free commuter parking and also people parking when visiting houses and residents around the area which often created issues on match days where cars were left taking up spaces that had been sold …. If they follow the process that has been given - tell the company they were shopping and have proof of this (they will be able to show the transaction on their bank or credit card statement (they just need to show that one and it clearly showing the date)) then the charge will be rescinded. If they also say that they didn’t receive the notice until after the 14 day period for a lower fee then the company will also allow the lower fee to be paid (if they chose to pay) as the Royal Mail came out and publicly said any letters sent after 30th November would be delayed (I received one sent on 12th December yesterday). The parking scheme was not brought in as an upgrade - it was a necessity to stop people taking the p#$$

A bit unfair. They were probably forced in to doing something because people were taking the water and using the car park when they had no business being there. They are operating a business not a community carpark. I’ve used the shop on numerous occasions and it’s quite easy to use the large touch screen which greets you as you walk into the shop, the staff alerted me to it when I went there the first time it came into operation. Been going on too long Eric, there should be a very large sign that no one can miss. Why put real fans through the stress, even if rescinded ? There is a sign? And the parking scheme was well publicised when it was introduced (and it’s been in force for a long time now) and the machine is literally at the entrance to the shop? Not sure what else the club are meant to do? I take the point re fans and stress but this situation has been caused by the fan not following what was the published process (admittedly an oversight) ….. I also believe (but not 100% certain) that there’s a grace period - e.g. 10mins free or something before charges apply ….

There are a number of big signs, one right next to the shop entrance. The club had no alternative but to clamp down on their car park being misused. As others have said if people have slipped up and been fined there is a fairly straightforward process and you will get it rescinded. The club are not trying to mistreat or rip off fans.

I'm assuming that the club had a serious problem with commuters using the car park as a free park and ride site to sell their soul to one of these parking companies. I’d imagine so, huge unmanned car park largely empty all day top of Gloucester Road. Was probably used by god knows how many people over the years. A bit risky on non match days when the gates can be and are locked at random times.

And they want to stop non shop visitors etc from parking there?

The funny thing about the poster(s) using this as an excuse to rubbish the club is it starts from the assumption that rovers fans cant work anything out for themselves and need their hand holding at every step or the club are treating them like dirt! Can't believe this is already at 2 pages. Guy didnt do what he should, fair enough, has been told how to rectify, yet on it goes....

A few of the pubs near me have the registration system, as tourists were parking all day for free and walking into Bradford on Avon. They have large signs in the car park, and a total of 50 signs dotted around the pub, inside and out. They get bad reviews on Trip Advisor if customers get a fine after not registering their car, even though their website has a special section about the parking arrangements, also giving information of how patrons can appeal - and advising them to do this, not pay the fine. I don't know what more they can do really, and think it's unfair that their Trip Advisor rating has dropped because of it.

I'm amazed at how many people leave restaurants a one star review because the restaurant was fully booked and they couldn't get a table.

The only gripe I got is the half hour time slot which isn’t very long if you’re looking around the store & trying on items of clothing, purchasing tickets etc, I think an hour would be more acceptable & fairer.

Just park down the road. Not easy if you're elderly or not very mobile. Making it one hour seems quite a simple and sensible solution. Although to be fair what exactly you'd be doing in the club shop for a whole hour mystifies me.

Park in the car park if you're lucky enough to get a season ticket for the car park? A guess it's a sign we're having a good season on the pitch when a thread about the car park runs to 2 pages!
