Does anyone have any experience of this situation.
I popped in to buy a christmas present. I obviously forgot to enter my reg into the machine and have just received a parking charge dated 19.12.22 (due to postal strike I guess) for £100 (to late for the £60 within 14 days).
Any previous experience or advice would be appreciated.
If I have to pay it. I just won't go to the Mem for the rest of the season so as to recoup my money.

This happened to me, There is a link to the independent Nexus appeal board , email appeal@appealpcn.co.uk Include a copy of the till receipt in the appeal which will confirm date and time of purchase. The club shop never mentioned to me about logging in. The fine was rescinded.

Thanks for the reply. I no longer have the receipt as the item fitted. I have decided to forgo the next 4 games to recoup

Surely the failure to notify you quickly is their issue. A bit negligent of them to expect the notice to arrive within reasonable timescales when there is a postal strike around Christmas. Just a sneaky way of them ensuring they get the full fee

We had a similar thing with a pub on the ring road. If you can show the payment on a bank statement they should be able to cancel it if you go into the shop. Take the letter with the parking charge on it.

Presumably you paid on a card. Send your statement transaction highlighted for that date - I did

This seems really unfair, you go there to buy Christmas presents and this happens, I'd be emailing Clare in the shop and see what she suggests

It’s not the shop that runs it. I contacted the shop first and was told to contact the parking company. Nothing will need to be paid if the shop was visited but you need to follow the instructed route on the letter. It’s annoying but is the correct / only process

You don't have to pay it...it's a civil issue, not an enforcement notice. It's not an offence not to pay. It's up to them to chase you, which they almost certainly won't, because it will cost them a lot more in admin time than it's worth.
You could choose to contact them rejecting the penalty because they gave you no reasonable chance to pay the lower fee, given the postal strikes known about in advance, or just ignore it and see what they do. It would help though if you could show proof of a purchase like a credit card statement.

As Aghast says, totally unenforceable, the likelihood of the company taking you to court is almost zero, even the courts themselves discourage it. I have ignored these in the past and never paid or been taken to court, you will however get lots of final demands etc, but they will give up after a while.
These companies pray on people who are frightened by their demands.

I know it's not the same but I took someone to court 2 years ago and won, it went as far as the bailiffs and he kept saying he didn't live there and doesn't own anything, after the bailiffs turned up at his house 3 times I got a letter to say there is nothing else they can do and good luck so I guess this company know its a complete waste of there time pursuing this charge accept a few threatening letters.

Only time I’ve ever heard about it happening from a private parking firm though.

Guys, none of this will go to court or even go any further if you just follow the process set out. Let them know you were shopping there, and send an image of the card payment at the specified email address and they’ll cancel it.

I'm assuming that the club had a serious problem with commuters using the car park as a free park and ride site to sell their soul to one of these parking companies.

I’d imagine so, huge unmanned car park largely empty all day top of Gloucester Road. Was probably used by god knows how many people over the years.

Yet another ingenious upgrade to make fans feel at home. It’s feckin nasty.

That is what a member of staff told me. There were also a few people going into the car park on match days many hours before kick off and before it’s stewarded, wandering off (perhaps for food/drink) and only leaving the car park after watching the game.

They were probably forced in to doing something because people were taking the water and using the car park when they had no business being there. They are operating a business not a community carpark. I’ve used the shop on numerous occasions and it’s quite easy to use the large touch screen which greets you as you walk into the shop, the staff alerted me to it when I went there the first time it came into operation.

Been going on too long Eric, there should be a very large sign that no one can miss. Why put real fans through the stress, even if rescinded ?
