I have walked out on three Rovers games. Norwich were the visitors at Eastville in the late 70s? The straw that broke the camel's back was the ball played by Norwich into the Rovers' bit of the centre circle. There was not one defender in our half and Jim Eadie rushed out, virtually to the half-way line, in an attempt to clear the ball. Ted McDougall beat him to it by a mile and just about walked the ball into the net. O-2. In the late 90s/early zeroes Stoke won 3-0. Peter Thorne got a hat-trick, his second at The Mem that calendar year and I think he was the leading goalscorer at The Mem in those twelve months. Had a church event to run that evening and just decided to get there significantly earlier than planned. Was absolutely frozen v Plymouth in the Pizza Cup just before Christmas and left at half-time. Slept solidly for the two days following. The lava flow of disgruntled Gasheads exiting the ground v MK D will be remembered for some time.

Soon as the second went in aye.
Fans leaving in their droves on 92nd min nothing unusual whatever the case, though not sure if many were making tracks long before then or not.

Something I would used to be proud of but learned that life and time is precious and would be much more open to leaving games these days.

Nah. Not even when we’re getting dicked by 4 goals like when we lost 5-1 to Charlton.
It may not be getting your moneys worth so to speak but if you’ve paid for the full set of minutes you can be sure I’m going to be seeing the full set of minutes unless I happen to arrive late.
Im there to support even if we’re dog sh**.

Left the WE immediately following the second goal. Queues along the front of the terrace were like they are normally at full time, so certainly joined by many others of the same opinion. Not in the least worried about it, we never looked like scoring all afternoon, so very unlikely we could score two or more in the remaining time.

Leaving early for me is if I don't stay to clap the players off the pitch.

I left Villa Park early in the 70's during the second FA Cup replay against Forest.
It was 5-0 when I left and I missed the 6th.

Leaving early for me is if I don't stay to clap the players off the pitch. You just reminded me. I remember when we lost to Donny at home in DC's last game (4-1 or 4-0). There was a mixed feeling after that game with a bit of booing and a mix of people thinking it was time to move on or DC lovers (like myself) who didn't want him to go even though I did accept that maybe it was just the right time as things were turning sour. I just really felt that it could be his last game and felt really sad about it after all the good times he had with us and brought us a lot of joy. A lot of fans left early or straight away, I stood there on the terraces waiting for DC to clap everyone and didn't leave until he had gone in the tunnel as I thought if that was to be his last game then I wanted to make sure he knew what he had done for us as a club and for me personally as a fan. Sure enough that was his last game (isnt it strange how sometimes you just get that feeling?!) and the end of my favourite era supporting Rovers. Love you DC. ❤️

Soon as the second goal went in I left. It's a 2 hour round trip to the Mem for me so I wasn't hanging around to watch that pile of sh1te 😂

Two down at half time, came out second half & they scored two more before the hour. We left on 60, beat the crowds and got ourselves down the sporty for a few jars and a pizza. I knew that was it for DC.

Last season v Oxford in the FA cup I left at half time of extra time because I had a really early start the following day..... missed the 3 Gas goal comeback....
Left Leicester City in 2008 five minutes early with the Gas 1-0 up (thanks to cracking goal from Joker 4), It was a special birthday for the Mrs and had to get back for her night out. Walking away from the ground it was heart breaking hearing the roars as Leicester equalised and then got an extra time winner.
Two weeks ago on the way to Morecambe I cracked an alloy wheel by hitting a pot hole on the M6, I left the car with Westgate Tyres who welded the wheel for me while I was at the game, unfortunately they closed at 5pm so had to leave at 4.30pm to get the car which was about 1.5 miles away. It meant I missed the last two goals....

Left on about 75 mins at Peterborough in 2017 when we were losing 4-0.
Missed Gaffney getting 2 to make it 4-2!

Have done on a number of occasions, normally away games. A couple of times when we used to get regularly thrashed away to Yeovil in the mid 2000's.
Also away at Walsall, think Dave Penny was in charge then? I'll never forget the Dominic Blizzard masterclass in that game, the single worst individual performance I've ever seen anyone produce in a Rovers shirt!

When I was a kid my Dad bolted early every single game…”just to beat the traffic”….it drove me mad. The only game we ever stayed to the end was ‘74 promotion game , where we ran onto the pitch. I vividly remember him getting into a fight with some Ginger haired pr1ck who knocked me over in his rush to get on. Probably why I don’t have any friends with Ginger hair. I always stay to the bitter end now, it’s the least we can do as fans and sometimes that loyalty is rewarded. Then I have a few beers in the Thatchers bar….” Just to beat the traffic “

88/89 v Gillingham at Twerton.
Phil Kite was playing well v the Gills.
I think Devon clattered into Kitey meaning he had to have treatment and by 90th minute it was still 0-0 but my Dad had to be somewhere but there were a few mins of injury time.
We were walking out from the Popular Side and John Ateyo left the grandstand.
Ny Dad was of the generation that went to City one week and Rovers the next and said Alright to him. Ateyo said this lot will never score and as soon as he said that, there were the raised voices of anticipation and then the cheers of a goal. Ateyo said well what do I know about football.
Just as we started climbing up the hill to get to the car, we heard the cheers for the second.
Keep the faith and Never leave early, you never know!

Boston United away (no idea when but must have been sometime in the 90s). 2-0 down and about 10 minutes left. I never leave early but was persuaded to by the group I was with. Long walk back to the station, stopped in the pub nearby and saw on the telly that we’d just made it 2-2. Reinforced my view that you should never leave early!
Edit: could have been the early 2000s but can’t be bothered to look it up. Edit again: October 2004, Forrester 88 and Agogo 90 (looked it up after all).
