Why did we let Burton dictate our play today?
Instead of playing to our strengths we kicked and lumped it which imo our players aren’t good at and Burton won every bloody ball.
Losing faith in JB. Starting to worry relegation might not be that ridiculous of a concept.

Started well, but after the long stoppage mid first half we looked dodgy at the back and devoid of ideas going forward. Luckily we are still 9 points clear of relegation as other results must have gone our way. Hopefully we can turn it around against Oxford, where we usually play well and have a good following!

The game changed after the stoppage first half, they had a team talk and put an extra man in midfield. Only one winner after that, i have lost all belief in the manager tactically , we were worse after the subs were made. We have a battle on our hands now and i have little confidence we will win it. Live in hope as always. UTG

Started really well and scored a really good goal, Quansah should have made it 2 which might well have killed the game and lo & behold 30 seconds later its 1-1. From that moment on we never really recovered. 2nd half we've fell into the trap of getting drawn into playing exactly as they wanted us to. Very poor but my over-riding emotion is embarrassment. Not in the performance of the players but of those absolute belters that thought the way to 'support' was to chant Belshaws name. How that is supposed to instill any confidence in Balcome is beyond me. I'm not at all convinced that Balcome is an upgrade in that position but the reaction of some of the crowd was frankly a joke

Both of their goals were avoidable. First one was appalling. The second one they just pinned us in and just kept peppering the goal. As others have said, before the stoppage things were good.
I’m just resigned. JB was the only manager who I hoped would have the connections to get us some better players. If we go back to AN other manager with this ground, we might as well resign ourselves to league 2 as we can’t survive in league 1.
Absolutely terrible given we have a fan base comfortably to support league 1 football but repeated failure and inability to get a ground, it’s just perpetual rubbish.
We could always try to do what a lot of other clubs do and just hoof it to remain mid table.
I’m seriously at the end of my tether with rovers. It’s been 25 years since we were any good. It’s like this club has a curse while the club next door gets a revolving door of cup ties and money men.
Probably at a bad point but I’m close to say “fk it” I obviously won’t but it’s how I feel. I can’t get the energy to hope or care anymore.

If Barton continues to give the pre match opposition team talk in his Friday BP interviews, results like today are bound to happen. We are lumbered with him now, he runs the club from top to bottom, makes every decision on and off the field.

Looked at both goals and they’re onside. Second goal gibbons at right back is slow pushing out.

If Barton continues to give the pre match opposition team talk in his Friday BP interviews, results like today are bound to happen. We are lumbered with him now, he runs the club from top to bottom, makes every decision on and off the field. Its hard to disagree with this .... He has opinions on all teams and managers and rather than keeping them quiet he has the urge to shout them out loud pre game .... everyone of the bottom teams who have beaten us he has quoted as being ' scrapping for their lives' and they have gone on to totally outwit us, outfight us and in some cases out play us. Today was an utter shambles - and after that positive performance on tuesday I feel we are right back in the mire again and as I said on this forum in the January window - We have not signed anywhere near the quality needed to compete in this league. Balcombe - Not sure what to say - his confidence levels must be shot and his panic punching was a real concern today. The chants from the Thatchers were the lowest point for me today. Would rest him for a few games now. MacDonald - First time our manager has seen him play, thought he was ok - was replaced by Gordon also not up to L1 standard Connolly - Weakest of the four CBs on the pitch today. Quansah - Missed a free header again and then 60 seconds later missed a defensive header to allow them in for an underserved equaliser. Gibbons - Not as good as Tuesday but did ok. Ward - Same as above - no idea why he was subbed ahead of Evans Evans - Couldn't beat the first man from a corner - Free kick attempt poor - Was ok in the week but rubbish today Bogarde - Still looked tired from Tuesday - did very little and was ball watching a lot of the time. Sinclair - Energetic but wasteful Collins - Not a great day for him Marquis - Brave for the goal didn't do too much else in the game None of the subs added any value whatsoever. Rovers Fans in the Thatchers - Noisy at times but chanting for Belshaw will only see the manager dig his heels in and more points dropped. Burton Fans - Had it about right when they chanted " Joey Barton your football is sh**e" The booing at the end saddened me as a passionate Gashead and it really does hurt when we lose so pathetically as these last six games - Thankfully my son cheered me up coming home in the car stating we will still be there as Season ticket holders even if we are watching L2 football next season.

Morning Guys and gals, I’ll start the matchday thread for this week. Have a really positive feeling about this one given how solid we were against Ipswich on Tuesday. We’ve been shy on the goal front of late so I’m not predicting a high scoring game but I do think we will get back amongst them so will go for a 2-0 win. Let’s all have a good day, safe travels to both sets of fans and UTG!! Jonah!

Evans' corners from the left side seems OK it was the right side he struggles with, hence why I assume McDonald was taking them when he was on the pitch. Evans was the pick of the midfielders with Bogarde and Ward being virtually no existent and Coutts just being Coutts. Hopefully Finley returns next week raring to go after his enforced break.

No bones about it, we are in big trouble. Burton were dreadful, worse than anything we played last season on league 2. They had a game plan, zero football, free kicks, throws, everything in the box to expose our soft center and it worked a treat. Don't get me wrong they deserved the win, but boy were we bad. Connolly and Quansah at the back will relegate us. Both Burton goals suspect for offside but don't let that destract from one of the poorest displays I've seen in the last 5 years or so.... I thought they were better than half of the sides we played last season but other than that I agree with you. The poor sides in league 2 were woeful the poor sides in league 1 are streetwise and know how to grind out results when they know they won’t have much of the ball.

We didn't deserve to lose or win that today. Had we the confidence of early season, it would have been 3 nil at half time. That confidence will be back and soon.
UTFG and a pox on those turds calling for Jimmy Belshaw DURING the game.
