They've now put restrictions in place to scupper our plans!
Ahead of tickets becoming available on general sale for our play-off semi-final at 12pm today, we can confirm a couple of procedures that have been put in place for the purchasing of tickets. We entertain Bristol Rovers at The New Lawn on Wednesday night in the first leg of a two legged play-off semi-final that will determine which team will go to Wembley to fight it out in this season’s Vanarama Conference promotion final. The club have been working with our opponents to ensure ticketing arrangements run smoothly for both sets of supporters. These procedures have been put in place for when tickets go on general sale at Forest Green at midday today: Any tickets bought must be collected from The New Lawn. Although you are still able to buy your tickets online these cannot be printed off at home or sent to your smartphone. They must be collected from FGR during the week or on match day. Supporters buying tickets must have purchased tickets for a previous Forest Green Rovers match. Anyone who does not apply to this will be cross referenced with Bristol Rovers ticket database so no away fans buy tickets in the home section. This may mean a delay of up to 24 hours however once it has been checked and cleared your tickets will become available.

I much prefer the old 'quizzing you about the team' method.

Somebody on Twitter has queried whether data protection allows FGR to cross-check info with the Rovers fan database. I'm not an expert on these matters, but it sounds like a reasonable question.

BUT it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission, so Rovers will help them out and then plead forgiveness or ignorance afterwards. The later excuse would be particularly believable for our club

If BRFC give this information out without the individuals consent they would be breaking the law. This could result in a "large" fine. I think an official at BRFC should confirm if they are going to knowingly break the law.

Pretty sure it will be covered in the small print when you sign up etc.
Football crowd H & S allows many cross references between clubs, associations and Police.

If you buy a ticket and they ask for your name and address it will not be covered. If you fill a form out and tick a box stating that you don't mind your details being shared it is covered. My guess is that at least 95% of the people on the database have not concented that their information is shared. I do not believe that this would be covered by H & S.

I assume if the ticket buyer consents to FGR sharing their data then Rovers can check it for FGR but not the other way around? But I doubt FGR/BRFC thought this though properly. Why didn't they just restrict online sales to GL post codes?

crafty FGR 'West Stand' not available online. Only south stand Any chance they might be holding those tickets back, so that they could be released to us if they don't sell out the other stands themselves?

BUT no, I get the feeling they don't need the money and don't want to give us any 'advantage', so would prefer a half empty terrace than selling to us. Their site says you can buy West Stand in person... so I think that says it all.

If I make the trip up to Nailsworth tomorrow to buy in person, do you think they'll do the database cross check there and then?! Presumably not.
