Broken up for lunch and Watola has finished his evidence. He did brilliantly and the Judge knocked back some of the legal questions as TW could not be expected to know the answer. One other thing to emerge is if we win the case and Sainsbury are bloody minded and kick us out of The Mem instead of allowing us to play there whist we build UWE, we may have to play somewhere else!!!!! It looks like case may not run into Friday. Full report later. Cheers for the update. Was it not written into the contract that Sainsburys would be required to let it back to us for a nominal amount until we build UWE though? Presumably if we win the case, then it will be on the basis that the contract is still running, and therefore they can't kick us out?

Fair play to TW it sounds like he played a blinder.

Clearly the art of good preparation that DC has brought to the footballing side of things has rubbed off on the Board a little at least.
TW saw off the new ball and hit a few boundaries on the way to a good century by the sound of it!

Thanks for the update Dave. I know you state things as you see them and not through tinted lenses, so if you are optimistic, so am I It is interesting that the fact that they may kick us out ahead of the building of the new ground has even surfaced. That seems to suggest things are going our way, to me.

From t'other forum - billyocean Joined: July 2014 Posts: 32 Member is Online Send PM High Court Proceedings11 minutes ago Quote . Post by billyocean on 11 minutes ago Watola taking a bit of hammering today with JS suggesting he could have done more to expedite the planning application, he didn't send letters early enough, he didn't provide security for the retention loan early enough, instead saying he'd provide it on completion, he could have offered to pay the whole £1.1m rather than just £500k, etc etc. Could see NH getting a bit animated too but he did give TW a congratulatory pat on the back when he sat down. Really no idea how this one will go but JS certainly struck some heavy blows today. I'm only getting to see an hour or so each day but I'm getting lost in some of the detail. The all-day chap will give a much better account later. Watola is done giving evidence and they have planning consultants on the stand. The Rovers counsel made a bit of a mess of one point he was trying to make and abandoned it halfway through. I get the impression the judge has warmed to Matthias (the Rovers counsel) more than the JS counsel though. I also prefer the way he presents - not that it really matters but the JS counsel has lots of annoying pauses. Read more: gasheads.org/thread/3191/high-court-proceedings?page=10#ixzz3agOCXvHn

If the 30k that went on Sunday didn't use Sainsbury, they would feel it.

As a lot of people have already said, Thank you for the updates severncider. Its great to get an idea of what is going on in the court room I dont personally shop at Sainsburys, havent for years as always thought it was a bit crap. We have a DHL account at work and they give us Nectar points for our spend with DHL. So i often go into Sainsburys and buy stuff for customers/staff using my "free" nectar points. So i like to think i am costing Sainsburys money! ;-) Last shop i spent over £700 on booze using only Nectar points to pay for it all! hahaha

If it was anything like the tesco before the game then I doubt they made any profit! Saw lots go in and walk out with out paying a penny. Was a great service really so well done tesco!

To be honest, if we won the case but had to move out early I'd take it.
An interesting situation re: Cheltenham, when do Gloucester City move into their new ground? Because I couldn't see Cheltenham, Gloucester and BRFC working but if Gloucester move out we could effectively replace them.
Anyway, all hypotheticals but glad TW did well.

LOL we'd be the fittest fans in Britain, up that hill every fortnight, and eating veggie food.

Fair play to TW it sounds like he played a blinder. ha ha. I said so similar, but I thought he'd try a chip kick or a rabona, and either be a hero or a total flop. Sorry, I know I'm lapsing into stereotypes now. I really didn't want Blissett to take one. And had a funny feeling about Lockyer - great game, but if his shooting is like his passing, I don't want to take the risk. Surprised Monkey wasn't in top 5. the 5 we took were superb. And Mattee always seems to give the keeper a chance but still score.

Doubt they could kick us out or even want to. They won't be building a supermarket there so may as well let us crack on. An empty site equals more cost for the with security etc. unless the new buyer is a certain rugby club owner looking for a prem standard ground for a championship RFC!!!
