Post by billyocean on 11 minutes ago Watola taking a bit of hammering today with JS suggesting he could have done more to expedite the planning application, he didn't send letters early enough, he didn't provide security for the retention loan early enough, instead saying he'd provide it on completion, he could have offered to pay the whole £1.1m rather than just £500k, etc etc. Could see NH getting a bit animated too but he did give TW a congratulatory pat on the back when he sat down. Really no idea how this one will go but JS certainly struck some heavy blows today. I'm only getting to see an hour or so each day but I'm getting lost in some of the detail. The all-day chap will give a much better account later. Watola is done giving evidence and they have planning consultants on the stand. The Rovers counsel made a bit of a mess of one point he was trying to make and abandoned it halfway through. I get the impression the judge has warmed to Matthias (the Rovers counsel) more than the JS counsel though. I also prefer the way he presents - not that it really matters but the JS counsel has lots of annoying pauses. Read more: gasheads.org/thread/3191/high-court-proceedings?page=10#ixzz3agOCXvHnSo to completely different view points, let's just hope sevencider is giving a true reflection of the day's events?

Broken up for lunch and Watola has finished his evidence. He did brilliantly and the Judge knocked back some of the legal questions as TW could not be expected to know the answer. One other thing to emerge is if we win the case and Sainsbury are bloody minded and kick us out of The Mem instead of allowing us to play there whist we build UWE, we may have to play somewhere else!!!!! It looks like case may not run into Friday. Full report later. I think it could be difficult to stay there anyway should we win, unless some sort of agreement could be arranged that would allow rovers to use the site unhindered for matchdays at least.

The more negative post is from someone who has seen an hour of the proceedings. Surely, you can't judge the performance based on the highlights?
Rovers 235/9 (Watola 89) - lunch day 4

Becoming homeless would be a very dodgy thing imo. I like to keep one foot on the ground. The next issue would be an appeal pre build, then construction complications, then licensing complications etc. We need to remain in situ until any new ground is ready to play in.

To be honest, if we won the case but had to move out early I'd take it. An interesting situation re: Cheltenham, when do Gloucester City move into their new ground? Because I couldn't see Cheltenham, Gloucester and BRFC working but if Gloucester move out we could effectively replace them. Anyway, all hypotheticals but glad TW did well. What about Forest Green! LOL we'd be the fittest fans in Britain, up that hill every fortnight, and eating veggie food. Not sure the facilities at FGR would be good enough for a FL club...

I say we go back to Twerton, Bath City were FANTASTIC hosts for 13 years, and they would appreciate the extra income.

If the 30k that went on Sunday didn't use Sainsbury, they would feel it. I actually drove to Tesco on Tuesday night rather than walk to the nearby Sainsburys, just for some chicken. That's your fault GREENS!

I had a bit of a tiff with my wife the other day when she exceeded our shopping budget....at sainsburys! It's very annoying when only half of the household is boycotting. I'll sit her down again this evening.

Sainsbury, we have a few in Poole, I never use them nowadays, and if the True gasheads all boycott them, Would they notice ?, I don't think so, But its the principle that counts.

I'll sit her down again this evening. If she doesn't listen you will have to divorce her. I told my wife she is NOT ever going to use Shamesburys again for anything. No more fuel either. Tescos for us now.

Never shop in Sainsburys (wife works in Waitrose so no need) but always used to buy my fuel there and used nectar points on my Chrismas Booze shop ( I do a lot of miles) needless to say next Christmas will be rather drier than usual

One of the conditions for acceptance into the league is security of tenure. If you are unable to show you have permission to play at your own ground for a minimum of 10 years then you will be refused entry to the league, you cannot be accepted if you ground share elsewhere. I'm only watching from a distance but I would say it is important that any change that affects your right to play at the mem happens after the Football league AGM in 2 weeks time so it doesn't affect your promotion. I'm sure your owners will be aware of this and will ensure isn't a problem but I thought you should know the situation with regards to promotion from the conference to the league.

I think posters are getting a bit carried away with what was possibly only a throw away comment anyway, as firstly we need to get the Judgment in our favour then Sainsbury's to confirm that will not enter an Appeal, then actaully pay up!

Doubt they could kick us out or even want to. They won't be building a supermarket there so may as well let us crack on. An empty site equals more cost for the with security etc. unless the new buyer is a certain rugby club owner looking for a prem standard ground for a championship RFC!!! I think you are spot on Lulworth. What motivates Sainsbury's is money not spite. If they were to receive a year's rent from us it would be much better than nothing. Still some way to go before that though.

Nothing is going to move that quickly beesknees, don't you fret! Have Harrow council given you permission to play league football at the Hive yet? (Genuine question I should add - I'm not trying to be antagonistic)

What are the chances that Sainsburys could appeal?
And wouldn't this bugger up any time limits with UWE?

Finish early today and appeared to go well.
However, I have a feeling that there is more than a 50/50 chance we can lose this case. Not sure the Contract is as watertight as has been suggested.
More to follow as it is difficult to type on a mobile phone on a rocking train
