Need more quality so lets hope anyone coming in is from further up the ladder . I would imagine that's a given. Not going to be loaning a player from the league below or the same league surely? I would imagine a young winger from a prem/champ team.

A young winger from a Prem/Championship club is a joke. Was not Adam Dawson a young winger with a Championship/Premiership club and yet the very reason Clarke gave was that he was not experienced enough at League Football. This is a desperation signing within a very poor League budget. Thankyou Higgs and Co.

If you want Football League experience I'm sure you'd love to see another Andy Bond type winger...

Not slagging off someone who doesn't even exist yet, surely?

He was alright and showed some very good touches/runs at times, but then on other occasions he was absolutely anonymous for 90 minutes. I quite liked him, but the furore about him on here is tedious and embarrassing now. No FL clubs and no top Conference clubs offered him a deal, and that should tell you everything you need to know. He is - and is viewed by other clubs - as an inconsistent winger who has only ever looked half-decent at Conference level. We didn't think he was worth signing, other decent clubs didn't think he was worth signing, and that is why he is now at Kiddy. He may go on to impress for them and improve, but right now he is not someone DC wants to spend some of his wage budget on, which is absolutely fair enough if you ask me.

IMO Dawson should have been signed, he did more than enough to earn a contract; trouble is DC has his favourites as we saw with hapless taylor missing two more easy chances last night, that said we need wingers we currently aint got none. Not good with the cobblers only 7 days away.

Taylor did get 20+ goals last season, which most people - when I started a thread asking the question - agreed in advance would be the measure of a successful striker. Tbone was among those at the time.
He does miss too many chances, but he did hit those goals and we did get promoted as a result. Someone else MAY have done even better, but he did it.

Not good with the cobblers only 7 days away. Did I dream this or didn't Taylors 20 goals help us to promotion meanwhile Gosling replaced Dawson and didn't really look that inferior? Regardless DC can hardly show a contracted layer the door? Given DC's permanent signings have, on the whole, been a success I think it's harsh being critical that he didn't sign Dawson. The fact LDV has signed for Fleetwood and Dawson's signed for skint Kidderminster suggests there maybe some issue with him we don't know about? Perhaps he even wanted to live nearer to is GF in Bury?

First of all DC needs to assess what is missing from the current squad, then he must decide which of those is the most important to fix, the he draws up a list of the best players to fill that requirement and then he must work on their current team, the player and his agent to persuade that the move is mutually beneficial and try to get that deal over the line when other teams are doing the same...sometimes the package or the opportunity might just be more competitive than ours. So..as DC notes he has sometimes seen that effort go to waste as the target opts for someone else. As you get down the list the players won't be as good a fit obviously...and other clubs might talk to them and tie them up before they even know they were on our radar. If that list gets exhausted then you start talking to your contacts in the game about the requirement and whether they have seen someone that you haven't who fits the bill. Got a feeling that is how we got Matty Lund on loan a few seasons ago, maybe Tom Eaves and Ryan Brunt too. So, if DC gets that body through the door and they can do the job he wants then that is good enough for me. It is a long period without any footy and I think the patience has run out for some but a lot of teams do their best business in the period from the week before the season starts through to the week after the loan window reopens when the permanent transfer deadline has passed.

Surely the original title of this topic is wrong as we do not as far as I am aware have any loan signings at the club at present.

Yes, if you want to split hairs, although if I'd titled it "another signing" no doubt somebody will have said didn't I mean our first loan signing!

I apologise if my post sounded as if I was "splitting hairs". Just pointing out we don't have any loan signings yet, but as it is the way of the world for most lower league teams now, I fully expect us to have more than our fair share of loanees throughout this season.
