Jamie Cureton was never a die hard gashead, I grew up with him and went to the same schools as he did. He was Man United mad, yes he liked Rovers but he was never a diehard true blue in any sense of the word.

I'm gonna be gutted to loose Smudger however we did all see this coming...
I wish him all the very best as he fully deserves to be playing a better standard of football, he has been a good servant to this club and I am certain he will be a credit to his new club.

Cureton wants to play for us and scores goals for fun. That seems more rational then signing a Forest Green reserve striker on the basis that he is young and cheap and would like to play league fooball one day.

Over five hours now since this story broke on Sky. Not a facebooker or twitterer, but where is the improved communication promised by the club after the shutting down of the OF. "far better ways of communicating " they said at the time. Yet another example in my humble opinion of the total shambles this club has become. We were even promised a player signing last Thursday and that was retracted later that day and as of now still no more signings. Good luck to Smudge I say, better off away from this ragbag outfit!

I truly wish you were wrong, but you're right Dave. I'm sorry but it's getting ridiculous now. I mentioned Josh Southway earlier, how about Danny W? Surely it was a real possibility Smudge was going, Danny was superb, bit of a risk injury wise, but we could be in real trouble now, struggling to get players.

Not entirely sure why anybody is upset or gutted or suprized or the like. This was always going to happen. Even if we had stayed up he would have gone so don't beat yourselves up too much. I wonder if we can get to the start of the season without losing anymore of our wonderful back 4?
Plus, I agree with Dinsdale. we are having another mare wrt player recruitment. There is zero sign of anything positive to come of this season as it stands. We are 4 weeks(?) to the first game. We have barely got a team let alone a squad! US, WE, YOU, deserve better.

Apathy Rules. Lot's of Gashead's are now accepting we're a non-league outfit, with a non-league manager signing non-league players, so guess what we're gonna become long term? Have us fan's really lowered our expectations this much?

Unfortunately it looks that way. It has not happened over night though. There have been buried concerns for years. Alarm bells should have been ringing while we were being leapfrogged by Yeovil, Stevenage, Crawley, Fleetwood. The fans can only do what fans do unless someone has a spare 40 mil in the bank?
There is confusion between the way to behave in situations like this. a) sit quiet and hope it will all be ok. b)be proactive and try to do something useful. c)panic like f**k and charge around uncontrollably. What do most people do when a ship starts to sink? What do we do here at Bristol Rovers..................?

Finally a response on twitter: Darrell says he has handed in transfer request but won't be leaving unless club meet valuation. He's gone then. No surprise really we can't really expect much more. We all knew losing our league status was going to lead to us being raided by league clubs.

Finally on main site at 1758. "Smudge has a slight injury at the moment". So that probably means he will not play tomorrow night and be gone by the end of the week! Good luck to the lad I say!

I am disappointed, but not at all surprised. He is far too good for the conference and anyway, he has to put his own future first.
Good luck Smudger and thank you for always giving us 100 % commitment.

Have us fan's really lowered our expectations this much? We haven't seen any sign of life from the club throughout the Summer. Not one thing from Higgs & Co has made me think that we have learnt a single thing or that we should get behind the club and look forward to the new season. BSS refers all Tweets to next Monday's meeting rather than answer anything head-on. I'm working on 21st - it's more important than football. Ask Higgs how he sees things developing if we don't win our first three home games? I predict a riot!!! North Korea will fall to the people.
