DC stated on TTB on Saturday that he was in the market for another striker. From the things he was saying it seems he will be looking for target/muscle man to complement the other strikers. My question is, who do you think he has in mind, will it be permanent or a loan, and do you think Blisset is finished with us?
there you go, a multiple question if ever I saw one!

I think it will be a loan deal this close to the window and unless he has a stellar time at Tranmere I think Blisset will not be getting a new contract come the end of the season.
I can't think of any big strikers that are available permanently at our level. We need someone who will come straight in and score goals not one for the future unfortunately.

I would love us to unearth another star from non league. Watching the boys who have never played in the league before play is a breath of fresh air as they are absolutely buzzing. Got to be another Charlie Austin or the like out there.
Fans really connect with these types of players although we will probably have to sign a few to find a good one. If they were on Bodin type contracts this wouldn't be a massive risk.

Who? to be honest I have no idea. Have we seen the last of Bliss? Not sure. If he gets some good experience and scores goals in the conference...maybe. DC said he was one for the future so perhaps he needs more time. In DC we trust

Excellent shout, somebody who isn't even half the player Hayles was would be more then enough in this league

Hayles was a great player one of my all time favourites but was fairly strong money at the time.
Not sure we can afford 250k on one of the best 5th tier strikers today.
Would probably have to look to lower tiers and take a gamble which is why I cited the Austin transfer which Swindon completed from Poole town who play in the Southern league.
I guess we would have to look at all the tier 6-10 target men, reduce this search to those under 24, go watch those with the best scoring records then take a gamble on a couple of them.
Seem to remember a Gashead who knew all these players was it Gashead Wes? He would know who these guys are.

Not sure we need to look to non league when we've had success with Will Hoskins, Tom Eaves & Tom Hitchcoock from league clubs in the past, also whilst Bliss is on the payroll I can only see us making a loan signing, if we do, I can't see a non-league club loaning us their star striker?

Would have liked that Brett Williams who went from the shots to Stevenage, strong and powerful.
if we had a good scouting set up there must be more Andre Grays in non league waiting for a go at league football.
we missed Ashley Barnes at Paulton, jack Butland at Clevedon and the development of Tyrone Mings at Chippenham after he left us.
i am a massive fan of DC however he needs to get our scouting system sorted ASAP.

Have we got any scouts apart from when DC and MS can get out to games?

I think the fact that DC finds players that not a soul on here thinks of is a sign we have a better scout network than some give credit for.

DC says we can't afford a full scouting system, so he, Marcus and Steve Yates go and do most of the scouting (except for match reports on future opponents; we have someone who does that for us).

To be fair it's working. The beard and Clarke up from non-league and looking right at home in L2

I know of a (non league gem of a) striker who scores goals, is physical, runs the channel's well and has bags of energy and enthusiasm. He's scored goals in conference south and national league. The best thing about him is he won't cost us a penny. Any guesses?
