Appreciating is fair enough but don't have to write it on twitter. That is just asking for trouble. If he were to say how much he envies them or how good city are I could understand it but he's just said that he thought two fellow pro's played well, honestly don't understand the fuss. and did he do the same for our two strikers after the last home game ?

Surely as a pro footballer you are told not to do a few things and near the top of the list must be don't praise your local rivals in public/on social media? Given must of his followers must surely be Gasheads then why tweet anything last night if he wasn't just attention seeking?

Apply it to the context of any other job and it wouldn't be acceptable would it? If a Tesco executive posted on Twitter "amazed at the brilliant new meal deal offer at Asda" it would be grounds for disciplinary action. Footballers live in enough of a dreamworld already without people constantly tripping over themselves to offer excuses for unacceptable behaviour.

Pretty sure he does it purely because everyone acts like this.
He did the same with Wales/England.
Good to see all the players kinda take the water out of the situation. The ones who need to grow up are those who get so worked up about it.

Shock horror I have even heard managers say publically even on TV that the opposition played well.

Exactly how far out of your way do you have to go to write a tweet.

Exactly how far out of your way do you have to go to write a tweet. Well you write it without being asked. There is no need to put anything. An interview is completely different as you are being approached. If Ellis was asked in an interview how he thought City played last night then fair enough but he wasn't. All about context.

The lads right, he's entitled to his opinion. So what if it's about the other side. I used to tell my mates how good and how much I respected the Taliban soldiers. Didn't stop me trying to kill them though!

Seriously, why is this even being discussed? It's not unusual to see Rovers and sh it players socialising together in town. Muzzy and Adomah were best buds when they both played in Bristol. Who cares?

I think he has been silly. He can text the lads privately to tell them they've had a good game but posting it on Twitter is daft. The ted players wouldn't do it and neither would any of ours, apart from Ellis. Our fans defending the kid are obviously not as devoted as others, that's fine but praising the club's rivals publicly is daft. The consequences of him having a bad game today have multiplied alot!
He should concentrate on bring a third rate footballer imo because once he's done with football, he could struggle.

I can't say if I am more or less devoted than you, but I don't see how defending a rovers player makes me less devoted.

If one of my rivals put out an excellent advertising campaign I'd respect it, if people are doing things better than you they won't go away if you ignore them, you need to learn how to better yourself to the point you can beat them.
