Haven't seen this mentioned elsewhere, Radio Bristol this morning reported we're expecting to announce a new signing today. New, as in new. Or Trialist Higgins to replace Smith? If it's someone new I'm intrigued.

They just said that after the game last night DC outlined that he expected to complete his 7th signing today, haven't seen it anywhere else though.
Apparently we played 5 at the back last night and DC wants it as an option, therefore a CB is definitely required (along with a right winger, right back, creative midfielder and goalscorer)..... Presumably with a another CB in Parkes would cover LB and Lockyer will cover RB?

Too old, too red.
One bad game and people will be all over him.

Carey will be 38 at his next Birthday. There's experienced and there's over the hill, Carey IMO probably falls into the latter.
I feel we still need a Right Back, Centre Back, Creative Midfielder, Winger & Striker.
I personally think we'll get 4 of the 5 but probably have to make do with the central midfielders we already have. Of course if Mansell's injury proves to be serious.........

He doesn't fit the profile DC stated he was recruiting from ... So age wage and not being fit and hungry to prove themselves to the club as opposed to looking for a final payoff to boost the retirement plan.

I personally would offer him (Carey) a one year deal. Friends of mine (teds) tell me he's still incredibly fit and was always first on the training ground and last off. His experience tells me he could do a job in the conference quite comfortably despite being 37.. Of course he will always be remembered for his career with the hillbillies, but so to did Steve Phillips and it didn't take the fans here long to forget that.. I take your point about the fans being on his case if things go wrong, but that's a chance worth taking I reckon.. I know loads will disagree but that's my opinion on the guy...
