yes it would be wreckless for Braintree, if they can't really afford it! Again, that's my question, can WE afford it?? Can we afford to match the wage offers a championship club might make, now?? I guess the answer is, we on the forum don't know! I'm looking forward to finding out! UTG No we can't neither do we want to, since we are not a championship club and don't generate the turnover that they do. That's my guess I want to understand what you seem to. Bournemouth are in the Premier League. What did they do? Can we do it too, now we've got money??

To take the club forwards where wael will want to be he will have to spend money and if that means paying high wages to keep good players then he will have too,it's a short career in football so you can't blame players for wanting more money The better players get and the more quality we get in the higher the wage bill will get, money is a accentive not pizzas Dc's will want a rise and he deserves it so he can't begrudge a player that wants more money if they improve the squad

What about 3 year contracts? What if we manage to keep Taylor(failing to get promoted) from joining Huddersfield by trebling his wages? Then what happens to our faithful and true fanbase and squad chemistry when Taylor goes on a lean spell or does something daft in the media? We have got where we are without spending money. Why do we need to start doing it all of a sudden? Would we have done any better this season if Wael had bought us 12 months earlier?

Yes and this is a big part of my initial question... Now we have rich owners, are we in a position to match the Taylor wages offer and then say to Gaffney & Lockyer and others ''carry on doing well and showing you deserve to player higher up, then WE will give you those kind of pay rises too, then you can go up the leagues with BRISTOL ROVERS, not somebody else!''. AND then buy other better players we need also!.... I'm not assuming, I'm hoping (and wondering/speculating in this thread). Are we now, at least a lot closer, to being in that kind of position financially? UTG There's your dilemma. We have got where we are without paying over the odds.(apparently) Are we to destroy that by paying the same players extra money purely to stop them moving on? From a different angle, if we bid for a Braintree player and offer him double his current salary. Wouldn't it be a bit reckless for Braintree to try and keep that player by matching our offer? We need to operate within our means imo. Problem is we don't know what that is? Is breakeven what ever we take via the turnstyles etc or does it include a £1m or so of the Al-Qadi's own money?
