MT himself said 'every day another club'. His agent has obviously put his name about, but no one yet has topped the Hearts offer, namely £3k per week for 3 years. As said previously, give him until the end of the month then get someone else in. So has he signed for Hearts or not? As if he hasn't already, surely their offer can't STILL be on the table all these months later?! If so, talk about desperate. That would make our signing of JJOT look like the fastest signing in history.

So Birmingham are out of the running and Hull gotta be favourites to go up (no way he's going to the prem) so that leaves Leeds and Preston out of the rumoured suitors. Can't help thinking this is his agent manufacturing interest from clubs who've watched him.

His agent is obviously keen for him to move on and we are obviously keen for him to stay. It'll come down to whether DC can convince him to stay for first team football or his agent convince him to leave for more money and probably less first team football. Whatever he choses fair enough he wants to earn as much as he can before he retires in a few years. I just hope we don't end up in a situation where his replacement doesn't come up with the goods if he does leave. 20 + goal scorers are hard to find and if he leaves staying up will mostly depend on finding another because I think the rest of the team are good enough to keep things right defensively but obviously we need to score goals too.

I'm becoming more optimistic he might stay now, I'm very sceptical of any firm interest from any of the quoted clubs. If he stays there is no doubt he'll be the highest paid player in the club and very well paid by league one standards, and he'll be the first name on the team sheet. If he keeps scoring in league one he'll probably be gone by xmas anyway, but we'll get 1m.

So Easter or Bodin can't score? Or EH,given more attention by MS, couldn't progress? I don't know. I just don't see we need to be pessimistic.

I think ellis could step into matty's shoes, taylor was given a long time at the start of last season to step up to league two, something that looked unlikely for the first 15 games. Ellis is probably the better player if he can get that attitude sorted.

He's very popular in the dressing room and Personally I think he's come on leaps and bounds the last 18 months

I'd agree with that. You'd think if anybody can knock some sense into him, DC & MS can, assisted by JE. Plus the realisation that it's his big & perhaps only chance.

He has shown when he has started games that he is not a 90 minute player plus he is easily marked out of a game and then the indiscipline kicks in. Fine from the bench but I don't think he is the answer, especially going up a division.

Otherwise he's OK.

if taylor goes we will need to sign a replacement something we have struggled with in the past Something we struggled with under the old regime, we have a decent manager and good infrastructure at the club now, something we haven't had in previous transfer windows. The past is not the future.

Could we get him to sign a 2 year deal and then hopefully get a fee for him?
Seems gutting that he would leave but especially gutting if it is on a free!

What's does Taylor gain by signing a contract, he's on a free now but if he signs a contract we'd probably demand a £250K+ transfer fee? That makes him an attractive signing to another team as instead of paying a transfer fee plus wages they only have to pay him the latter.
