Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!! What a wind-up!!! The dark cloud hanging over the Football Club lifted the day Higgs and Co. left! I merit DC and the squad with promotion. Higgs leaving just increased the feel-good factor ten-fold!!! Twas before that imo, things took a dramatic turn for the better when gd left, again imo nick had a big hand in this season by leaving DC to do his job, yes he f**ked up but he also did good. Thing is if wael hadn't took over i suspect we would have ended the season just beneath the playoffs, the reason i say this is because of the way wael seemed to be open with the staff , so i guess the players were a little bit more secure and this in turn allowed them to concentrate a bit more on the pitch, mustn't forget DC as he's fostered a great team spirit, and the players seem fitter than any we've had in a long time, don't forget the fans. lets face reality we are all ugly git's but the support we give the club is fantastic, again UP THE f**kin GAS

Buckle & McGhee took us down imo UTG Yes and who had the great judgement to appoint those two and a succession of bad appointments? John Ward brought Darrell to the club who was dropped in it from a great height towards the end of the season in which Bristol Rovers was relegated out of the Football League for the first time in its history. That succession of poor appointments created the downward spiral that led to the relegation. Meanwhile the future of the football club was gambled upon with the chasing of a dream. The club was sold because there was nowhere else to go. The accounts for the 15/16 financial year will be an interesting read for we shareholders at the next AGM.

Amazing how bitter some people can be on here....no doubt the same types that were slagging DC off for only getting a draw at Stevenage!! To be clear, NH made mistakes, but given that the UWE, as it stands, was our only reall hope of a future, then he rightly went for it, then as we know was stiched up by the NIMBY's which then bought time for Sainsbury's to scupper the deal. During this period, against the wishes of many he retained DC, and provided him the support to mount two sucessful promotion campaigns. For a number of years NH has said that he was only prepared to sell to the right person, given that everyone are singing the praises of the new owners, then it would suggest he has very much delivered on this promise. And if / when we move into the UWE, then further praise must go to NH for brokering the initial deal. So in short I believe NH deserves some credit, and if nothing else some respect as a fellow fan, who always had Rovers best interests at heart. Well said. Whatever view, IMO NH did well over last 18 months and did all he could to sell to correct people and support DC with players to get 2 promotions. Others know more than me about the underlying stuff.

I'm not sure if the takeover made any difference, i always felt early in the year that we could kick on in exactly the same way we did last season. But yes, congrats Nick, things turned out pretty well in the end.

Odd one really as fans give NH no praise for being behind our two promotions but blame him for our two relegations?
Whether it was just luck or not appointing DC was clearly a master stroke then sticking by him until he turned things around. He was also the driving force behind the UWE plans and without them we may well have never attracted Wael to the club?
Looking at Torquay's plight then thank god JW had that telephone call with DC three summers ago!

All we got was the ringing endorsement of "He has a contract"

For this to make sense, some fans got us relegated and some fans got us promoted, but never were the same fans involved in both a daft idea but it must make sense to some on here.

While most of the above is true I lost all respect for NH when he decided to gamble rovers future in the courts.

Make no mistake, WAQ would not have given us a second look had we not had the planning permission on UWE.

Right lets get this straight shall we. The previous chairman of the football club took over Bristol Rovers when it appeared to be stabilising as a League One club. Under his stewardship the club dropped out of the Football League for the first time and the finances got to the stage where it appears he was willing to gamble everything on a project that was doomed to fail. Even when it was plain to most people with an ounce of common sense he continued. That is a disastrous record by anyone's standards.

If he'd just let Sainsbury's walk the UWE would have soon followed them and I doubt Al-Qadi's would have looked twice at Rovers w/o the UWE stadium plans still being in place?

He couldn't have got rid of DC even if he wanted too. We had NO MONEY.
UWE came to us not the other way around.
He said he would only sell to the right person. The day before the announcement of the takeover, he thought he had a JOINT VENTURE with the Al-Qadi family. The other major shareholders were asked if they would back a takeover. They got the go ahead, and NH was told it was a takeover or bust. Literally. He had no choice but to accept. He had no way of clearing the debts.
That is why NH looked so shell shocked at the announcement.

You imply that he was forced to sell, yet surely, if you have 51% it doesn't matter what happens to the other 49%, you'll still be in charge?

I can't recall anybody slagging DC off, just questioning his line up in a game that we had to win to keep our fate in our own hands. People expressed their disappointment, nothing else. The same happened last season remember so of course people are going to ask questions. I hardly think winning back-to-back promotions with virtually the last kick of both games is down to subtle planning, and I think he'd be the first to admit that luck was on our side, but team spirit and togetherness will help you ride your luck. Acci hit the bar three times don't forget. I hope we don't wait until the fat lady almost sings next season because my ticker won't stand it.

Hugo has photoshopped that picture ! He's added hair, coloured up the view, and most certainly slimmed the arse. He's also removed the steel struts needed to hold that chair up.
