Darrell didn't take us down, Ward did.
Nick Higgs took us up, not WAQ.
Congratulations Nick, you left us where you joined us.
Trololol.

Just fishing.
It's something I've been mulling over for a few days.
It's at least worthy of contemplation no?

Whilst I admire your ability to be able to mull over a period of days, I find that I have deleted all memories and thoughts from my head regarding the previous regime, therefore rendering me unable to mull. As for contemplation, She Who Casts No Shadow is going out tonight. I can only contemplate on whether to catch up with Game of Thrones, or have a w**k. I sit with my chin resting on my clenched fist, in contemplation.

I've been thinking about it too and came to the decision that trying to attribute praise to either administrative regime detracts from the huge achievement of DC.

No matter who is credited with what, if there had been no takeover there would now be no Rovers. Higgs deserves no credit whatsoever.

Game of Thrones, or have a w**k. I've never not done both. Is it Jamie Lannister or Tyrion that gets you off? It's Melisandre the Red Witch for me....the durty minx.

Plenty of bad decisions but some good ones too. Kept us afloat and played a part in two promotions (yes relegations too), sticking with Darrell (and other managers we were all pleased with at the time) and selling to the right people (remains to be seen)...

We'll never know whether the surge in form we had in the last third of the season was as a result of the takeover. On the face of it, there were no new signings, a couple of new contracts late on, but Darrell and the same team were in place throughout. On the other hand, no one can deny the feelgood factor around the place after the takeover.
It is unfashionable to say so, but I'll admit to feeling a bit sorry for Nick that he wasn't able to take at least some credit for the rehabilitation of the playing fortunes over the last two seasons. Sticking with Darrell Clarke is a masterstroke, but I wonder how much of that was just a case of financial necessity having paid out for a string of sacked managers previously.
Regardless, we are in a better place now on and off the field and I'd be more than happy to shake Nick's hand and thank him for his part in getting us to where we now are.

Whether it would have panned out with him at the helm is not known, but he did set up the deal that we are now acting upon.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!! What a wind-up!!!
The dark cloud hanging over the Football Club lifted the day Higgs and Co. left!
I merit DC and the squad with promotion. Higgs leaving just increased the feel-good factor ten-fold!!!

Amazing how bitter some people can be on here....no doubt the same types that were slagging DC off for only getting a draw at Stevenage!!
To be clear, NH made mistakes, but given that the UWE, as it stands, was our only reall hope of a future, then he rightly went for it, then as we know was stiched up by the NIMBY's which then bought time for Sainsbury's to scupper the deal. During this period, against the wishes of many he retained DC, and provided him the support to mount two sucessful promotion campaigns.
For a number of years NH has said that he was only prepared to sell to the right person, given that everyone are singing the praises of the new owners, then it would suggest he has very much delivered on this promise. And if / when we move into the UWE, then further praise must go to NH for brokering the initial deal.
So in short I believe NH deserves some credit, and if nothing else some respect as a fellow fan, who always had Rovers best interests at heart.
