Let's hope its about the finance being in place everything agreed and the build with a few tweaks is going to start this year.
I see the m32 is being closed for a new bridge to be installed , will this be relevant to the access issue ,like the improved bus lanes around the stadium site area.

It is probably good news and bad news. Previously under Chairman Higgs the good news was we had planning permission the bad news that we don't have the money. Now it might be the good news is we have the money, the bad news is planning ran out on 17th Jan.

Hopefully it's confirmation that the UWE will sell us the freehold, finance is in place for a pompt start to the building work, plus the UWE have agreed to whatever other developments we want to build on the land.

AG is about 7 miles away from UWE. Regardless of what county/district/region it's in, that is pretty close for another 20k seats in a sports venue and another set of conference facilities. There is not a wall along the boundary you know and nothing stopping S Glos companies using the AG facilities. I get your point but I'd heard that Ashton Gate is full of sh**, sh** and more sh**. Anyone else heard the same? Heard it and then passed it on.

I'm not really concerned if we do have to re apply for the planning permission at UWE. Never had any doubt over South Glos approving. They are desperate for a stadium. If it means we have a better stadium - not fussed with a wait. How are S Glos "desperate" for a stadium. I live in kingswood, my Mrs works for S Glos and we never hear of this desperation. There is hardly a use for a stadium, no big teams or clubs to use it. If S Glos were desperate for a multi use stadium or suchlike, they would have built one. The council has existed for over 20 years! Our population is 300k and we have about 18 secondary schools, if the people wanted a regional stadium, there are enough to demand one but it hasn't been mentioned locally at all. It is a part of their 5-10 year plan.

Over on One Turd, some financial expert, a self regarding prick who calls himself Charlie's Boots has been telling anyone who'll listen, that Wael has been unable to get the necessary financial backing and that, in fact, people at the various meetings were looking down at their feet and shuffling about in embarassment at his discomfort. So there you go, if you want to know the truth about our finances, visit the magnificent 233 page thread on One Turd where, amongst other things, you can read all about they don't mind being called Sh1!heads, and are happily telling each other if thats the best we can do then they have nothing to worry about. In fact, I think they are very worried. In fact, I think the Sh1!heads are, well, sh**ting themselves!

Not sure "desperate" is the right word but it's part of S Glos local plan to have 22,000 capacity stadium, as far as AG given that's in South Bristol it's hardly relevent to most S Glos residents. AG is about 7 miles away from UWE. Regardless of what county/district/region it's in, that is pretty close for another 20k seats in a sports venue and another set of conference facilities. There is not a wall along the boundary you know and nothing stopping S Glos companies using the AG facilities. wrong description.... "another 20k seats in a sh** tip" is better

AG has always suffered from poor parking and its getting worse, but they now have buses to the stadium from various parts of Bristol and if it gets to bad I expect Lansdown would buy a piece of land and make it into a car park with shuttle buses.
That new stand at AG although its a blot on the landscape will be superb, I doubt that it will be used very often for the football as I think that football crowds will decline in the future ( all around the country ).

Was forced to drive that way the other day - their stadium is a right mess - a bit like their team loads of money spent for a pretty poor out come. Ashton Vale could have been better than our plans, sadly for them they had to settle for second best. No doubt in my mind that if the UWE gets built it will be the best facility locally which I am sure will hurt them a lot. Yes their stadium is finished, but if anything that means they have no answer when something better pops up on their doorstep.

If only South Glos had the same vision with an Airport at Filton, but that's another story!

I guess they are getting nervous that instead of being a joke club run by a useless BoD we could become a well run club, playing in a better stadium, with some financial clout behind us.

Haha - They keep quoting me on OTIB on things that I've written on here or on other forums about our potential, the "ledgenary gap" and my views on where I think we could be in our near - to medium future. Apparently I'm a troll ( Even tho I've been a gashead for over 25 years and my uncle played for the Gas in the 1960s) they said I still believe Santa, and need to take my meds.... ?? - Who told them that! ?

Plus a train station soon to open across the road. It's 20 minutes from the airport. It's up and running and the team running operations at AG is huge. They already have experience in the industry due to using the Colman suite for functions and boxing etc for the last few years.
