It is probably good news and bad news. Previously under Chairman Higgs the good news was we had planning permission the bad news that we don't have the money. Now it might be the good news is we have the money, the bad news is planning ran out on 17th Jan. Not true.

AG is about 7 miles away from UWE. Regardless of what county/district/region it's in, that is pretty close for another 20k seats in a sports venue and another set of conference facilities. There is not a wall along the boundary you know and nothing stopping S Glos companies using the AG facilities. UWE would be far better located for access. Trashcan would become the lesser amenity; increasing revenue brought into S Glos. Why would S Glos companies want to use AG if they had UWE on their doorstep? Also it is far closer to the M4. Why travel through Bristol meaning an extra half hour plus of travel when there's facilities right by the motorway?

Why's it "probably" good news and bad news, why can't it be just v. good news? Hopefully it's confirmation that the UWE will sell us the freehold, finance is in place for a pompt start to the building work, plus the UWE have agreed to whatever other developments we want to build on the land. I dint know why we're getting so excited about all this. Over on One Turd, some financial expert, a self regarding prick who calls himself Charlie's Boots has been telling anyone who'll listen, that Wael has been unable to get the necessary financial backing and that, in fact, people at the various meetings were looking down at their feet and shuffling about in embarassment at his discomfort. So there you go, if you want to know the truth about our finances, visit the magnificent 233 page thread on One Turd where, amongst other things, you can read all about they don't mind being called Sh1!heads, and are happily telling each other if thats the best we can do then they have nothing to worry about. In fact, I think they are very worried. In fact, I think the Sh1!heads are, well, sh**ting themselves! Good to see the Daily Star of football forums is at it again. Do they enjoy making themselves look utter fools?

Plus a train station soon to open across the road. It's 20 minutes from the airport. It's up and running and the team running operations at AG is huge. They already have experience in the industry due to using the Colman suite for functions and boxing etc for the last few years. watta prick Explain?

Do you really think that they are sh**ting themselves ?...their 27,000 all covered all seated ground is nearly finished and Rovers new ground hasn't even started,I think that they are p1ssing themselves.
AG has always suffered from poor parking and its getting worse, but they now have buses to the stadium from various parts of Bristol and if it gets to bad I expect Lansdown would buy a piece of land and make it into a car park with shuttle buses.
That new stand at AG although its a blot on the landscape will be superb, I doubt that it will be used very often for the football as I think that football crowds will decline in the future ( all around the country ).

No idea why Wael doesn't just sell up as it's obvious we've lost the battle already!!! Regardless given the choice where would you hold a Conference to impress present & future customers, a re-vamped football stadium in middle of a run down part of S Bristol, or the state of the art sports, leisure & conference complex on a university complex, possibly with it's own hotel, next to a good road network and a nearby mainline station? I know which venue I would prefer to attend irrespective of which club I support.

Whilst you can't deny what it says do you really think our whole legal team would miss that?

I give it 5 minutes for my post to appear on OTIB

I haven't liked any of the 'new' stadiums that I have been to ( talking about for football not conferences ),we are not going to Northampton again, what a dump, the whole 'experience' pre match pint in a 'flaming grill' then into the lego ground..

I mentioned the decision notice before. It contains the following, "The development hereby permitted shall begin before the expiration of five years from the date of this decision. Reason To comply with the requirements of Section 91 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended). " This gives a permission lasting to 17th January 2018. If Jan 2016 was correct, is it conceivable that the Al Qadi team would have failed to spot that the new stadium, that so much rests on, didn't actually have a valid planning permission?

Which stadium is more attractive for conferencing is academic. We're not talking Exeter, we're talking Bristol, a major hub for business outside London. There's plenty of room for both clubs, and that goes for entertainment events as well as business events. As a city and region we are shockingly short of venues to facilitate big events, and I'm sure there will be demand for more even when we get our new ground.
We will probably appeal more to businesses north of the city in cribbs and Filton way, whilst Ashton gate will continue to dominate in the south & centre. Difference being we will likely get to keep our revenue if hamer has held out and managed to secure the freehold whilst city share it with the rest of Bristol sport!

There's been some big investments in uni's lately but our conference suites clearly aren't going to be grungey... ... As far as the stadium we just have to hope Wael gets it right "experience" wise as staying at the Mem is clearly not an option (pretty sure Gashead79 was saying the same earlier in the week!)

I won't accept that ours will be so much better though on this forum because it's just not true. How about accepting the facts rather reposting things about selling up due to rival developments? Success of our facilities will be as much down to marketing as location. I haven't been, but I'd imagine the facilities at AG are pretty good and there are loads of businesses within 3 miles of AG not to mention SL is a pretty big player in town.

Read somewhere we only had to start this year building, and the car park would suffice to keep the planning authorities happy. Maybe santas grotto will be constructed next!
