Shame. Thanks foe sticking with us Parky. Good luck. Would rather have kept him and lost MM. Never mind. Need some signings though. A lot of other teams sorting themselves out, but we always leave it late.

Not that bothered myself.
Wanted a new CB anyway (imposing, threat from set pieces and can pass a ball sort of player) and Macca is good back-up. Parkes does have potential to an extent but his passing needs to improve, the odd mistake last season etc. Having said that, he is a decent centre half, did well in the Conference and I think he'll benefit from getting games next season.
Best of luck at Orient, but I don't think it's a massive miss.

Mixed feelings, but really he didn't kick on last season like the rest of the team did, so probably best for everyone. This sums it up, after having a great season in the Conference he seemed to return unfit in the summer and never really recovered. The move will probably be for both Parkes & us, just hope in a year or so he's not making a mega bucks move to a Championship side!

To be honest i am not over surprised myself, end of the season he was only a bit part player. Best of luck to him though, obviously thinks he'll get a better chance away from us.

If by Parkes moving on, it releases more funds to get players like Nelson from the Janners, then i agree its a good move for the club.... But if we only replace him with a player of the same quality then NO
Thanks for the memory Tom

Good lad for staying with us, and quite surprised by his departure.
On his day, a decent centre-half,but prone to the odd day asleep! Not as weighty as Garry Kenneth, but seemed sluggish at times.
Good luck Tom Parkes!

Almost feels like the end of an era, he's been a big player for us for years now. Shame, but we move on.

Thanks Parkesy and good luck for the future, now let's get someone nasty in to compliment Locks, someone who can score at corners, trust DC has got this sorted. Who leaves next? Surprised Ollie C and Linesy haven't signed. Would not be surprised to see some of ours end up at Cheltenham.

Parkes was too inconsistent - 3 good games followed by 3 bad games. He's also a bit slow. Add to that his heading wasn't great both defensively and going up for corners. Makes it almost certain now that we will bring in 1 or 2 CBs - which is good news !

He could be? Depends on how he introduces and asserts himself at his new club. He was pretty young when he joined us so it can be difficult to reinvent yourself or develop your image if the same characters are around. He has a chance to go there and be a leader for sure. A decent lower league defender, far from perfect obviously. Will need to play alongside a player who stays back and/or has some pace. Best of luck to him in his new challenge.

Not the first time we've lost a whole hearted committed player and won't be the last. The ranks of the gas hordes was always richer for having his old man as part of them..so we will miss his quality of support too. One thing is for sure - both father and son " got" the gas ethos and spirit and I wish them nothing but good things for the remainder of TPs footballing career. I liked the mature way he accepted being dropped or losing the captaincy etc and just expressed his desire to improve in the areas that had led to those misfortunes. I don't doubt DC can get us replacement of comparable footballing talents, I hope he can also get us one with the same calibre of off the field determination and steadfastness. Best wishes Parkesy.
