He could be? Depends on how he introduces and asserts himself at his new club. He was pretty young when he joined us so it can be difficult to reinvent yourself or develop your image if the same characters are around. He has a chance to go there and be a leader for sure. A decent lower league defender, far from perfect obviously. Will need to play alongside a player who stays back and/or has some pace. Best of luck to him in his new challenge. But what about his attire on that Orient photo, fecking disgraceful! You jest? You know my opinion on that.. I don't mind so much as that's their photo. It looks sh** though doesn't it! You wouldn't sign for mangoes looking like that.

Sad to see the back of Parkes he was a good boy for us.
I think the move makes sense though as he needs first team football and I still expect us to add at the back. He could make a decent championship centre half but perhaps too error prone right now.
Going forward- we could do with a goalscoring CB.

Good luck Tom @ the O's
On a lighter note, I think DC will bring in better, someone ready to take the next step up

Excellent on his day but not consistent enough and always had a clanger in him.
I don't think he really progressed from those great early loan games, although decent L2 fodder player like him are ten a penny, its a shame we didn't get any financial return on his transfer fee as he is only 24.
Good luck to him though, stood firm following relegation and played parts in getting us where we are now.

Always rated big Tom and thought he could do a job for us in league1 this season. The move is probably more about extra security as he has a new baby to consider as well now.Good signing for Orient and will do well for them i think.

Thats a good shout, I'd be happy with either tbh. Weird how Orient didn't go for either before Tom really.

Given he couldn't even get into a Div 2 team when we played 4 at the back I can't see he was up to doing a good job a league higher? Good to get him off the wage bill TBH as I bet DC can getter better quality for similar, or even less, money.

or Nelson from Plymouth - still not signed a new contract Don't know much about Bradley. Just because he hasn't signed for Crawley and thinks he can do better doesn't mean he is good enough for us in League 1. He may be and if DC goes for him that would be good enough for me. But Nelson I do think is a good player and would love to see him at Rovers. UTG!

Would think about a young Championship or Premiership player looking for games on a season long loan. That's exactly what we don't want. If we get a season long loan in, it means next season we will be looking for two central defenders. Lets get and develop our own. This season a new one will have Macca to advise him. Next season he won't. If we want a loanee, then we should sign two on, one of ours and one on loan. Agreed, loanee plus one our youngsters stepping up.

We have three centre-halves (McChrystal, Lockyer and Clarke)who played last season, plus young Alfie Kilgour, we will probably sign another I suspect. Good luck to Tom Parkes, likeable lad who has never really achieved the heights he looked capable of.

He wont be short of offers from L1 clubs put it that way.
Was a rock for them against us this season in a poor side.

Lockyer (player of the season) and McChrystal (team captain) were a formidable partnership and there was no shame about not being able to get in ahead of them. By this logic you must think that all of our squad players should be shelved and just the first team regulars retained? Surely it's not as simple as that in reality?

No, the difference with Parkes compared to say O Clarke is that he's probably on a v. good wage given that he was signed pre-DC for a big transfer fee from Leicester, if Parkes game had improved like Lockyer's has he'd be worth it but not as a bench player.

Fair enough. I misunderstood your reasoning. Hopefully Hartley will be an upgrade. I would imagine he would be on a similar wage.

After two good seasons but not always commanding a first team spot (team picked as a game by game project) I'm sure TP weighed u p the new contract offers available and decided orient offered a good deal plus a greater chance of regular first team football. I'm sure DC would have been happy for TP to stay and prove his worth in the squad again but that's not to be .So thanks Tom ,and good luck.
