"There has been no specific deadline set by which Taylor must make his decision, but with a return to pre-season training looming the likelihood is that the striker will put pen-to-paper – at the Memorial Stadium or elsewhere – within the next fortnight"
These Bristol Post guys are on the ball; his other option is not being paid so yes I think he will decide within the next 2 weeks!!

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36605814Time is running out for Bristol Rovers striker Matty Taylor to sign a new contract with the club, says chairman Steve Hamer. The 26-year-old was Rovers' top scorer last season with 28 goals in all competitions, including two hat-tricks, as they won promotion to League One. Of the first-team squad, 12 have signed new deals ahead of the 2016-17 season. "I presume we will hear sooner rather than later. We've still not heard," Hamer told BBC Radio Bristol. "The sands of time are running out for both him and us. We're getting close, wherever he's going to be. "Hopefully he's with us but, if not, good luck to him and we wish him well for next season, wherever he is." Speaking in May, Hamer said Rovers would have the chance to match any offers made by other clubs to Taylor, with the former Forest Green Rovers striker out of contract this summer. Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock.

Harsh, I think. We as ever hopeful fans have come to that conclusion because it's the conclusion we want to reach - it gave us a glimmer of hope that Taylor would be re-signing. The media department has been excellent for a little while now.

But i think we've had our fair share of 'hollywood endings' and this one seems too good even for our more then adequate media team to have organised.

If Taylor had signed they almost definitely would have announced that last. He hasn't so they can't.

With the season starting in six or seven weeks and pre season starting next week ,you would imagine DC will want the full pre season to train ,practice and get them match fit/sharp . If Mt is to stay he will have to do it soon else risk disrupting his preseason whether at BRFC or elsewhere. DC will no doubt want any new signings go get a full preseason with us too so I expect them to be announced either this week or next.
The risk Mt is taking is that DC doesn't sign another quality striker whilst he is dithering and so demote himself to second choice !
Edit: one thing to add...BRFC create masses of chances every game ,far more than any other club in the league . Mt won't get the opportunity to miss a couple elsewhere he will be under pressure to score from every other shot he gets.

A Wigan fan on another forum seems to think Matty's agent is trying to get him £10k per week, but that Wigan probably wont pay that for someone who is likely to start on the bench.

Well they might've announced it first to boost ST sales, if he had signed first BUT what i was saying is -with Hamer saying he still hasn't signed it debunks the drip feed theory. I loved this idea that it was all sorted and we were leading to an announcement but that now seems to have been too good to be true.

Can see Billy Bodin fitting into his role almost seamlessly, don't want it to hamper our pre season like the chase of James constable, but hope Matty Tboner decides soon.

Why try changing Bodin when we actually finally have a winger who scores and creates goals?

Well, he'd obviously be in on the "drip-feeding" thing so if he came out and said that Taylor had signed it ruins it all.
