Can see Billy Bodin fitting into his role almost seamlessly, don't want it to hamper our pre season like the chase of James constable, but hope Matty Tboner decides soon.
Why try changing Bodin when we actually finally have a winger who scores and creates goals?
Because I see him as a number 10 and he is an excellent finisher, Cool on one on ones, and I don't really see him as a winger.

Despite the fact that half of his goals come from cutting inside, leaving the full-back on his arse? Come on, if Taylor went we'd need another striker. None of this 'he can do a job there' nonsense like we had in the past.

He's had his best spell in pro football since moving to the wing for us. Everything about his play is a quality winger - he cuts inside and makes things happen. Stick him in the middle and he will fail. Keep him on the wing!!!!

You have a player out wide who scores 13 goals ....if he is moved inside he will be expected to score 27 goals...plus you now have to find a wide man who can add 13 goals to the tally. Pure insanity. Weaken the team in two areas instead of one....relegation logic. Its not easy to find wide men who score goals ( double figures ish) I can think of Wayne Carlisle and David mehew and billy bodin, any others in the last 30 years ? The team will need to score 50-60 goals to make sure they stay up. 70 or 80 for a promotion chance. Jeff Hughes.....

Just replace like for like, when you start moving players around it can mess things up and unsettle players..
It worked for Thierry Henry, but Billy is no Thierry Henry...

Moving Bodin into attack may solve the striker issue, (although I personally think he's better suited to the wing) but it then creates a problem at right mid. Then we're looking for a decent winger with plenty of goals in them to replace Billy. Which is even harder to come by in the lower league than a decent striker!

I guess Bryan Moore could fill the right wing position if BB moves upfront, although given DC didn't use BB as a striker last season I assume he sees him as a right winger?

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36605814Time is running out for Bristol Rovers striker Matty Taylor to sign a new contract with the club, says chairman Steve Hamer. The 26-year-old was Rovers' top scorer last season with 28 goals in all competitions, including two hat-tricks, as they won promotion to League One. Of the first-team squad, 12 have signed new deals ahead of the 2016-17 season. "I presume we will hear sooner rather than later. We've still not heard," Hamer told BBC Radio Bristol. "The sands of time are running out for both him and us. We're getting close, wherever he's going to be. "Hopefully he's with us but, if not, good luck to him and we wish him well for next season, wherever he is." Speaking in May, Hamer said Rovers would have the chance to match any offers made by other clubs to Taylor, with the former Forest Green Rovers striker out of contract this summer. Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock. That sounds like MT's just keeping his options open to the last minute, as surely if he had a decent offer on the table he would have signed it rather than keep his new club and Rovers waiting? Plus surely if he had received an offer his agent would be boardcasting the news in the hope it attracked further offers?

If ajose from swindon after scoring 25 goals in league one can't get a championship club i don't think taylor will. His agent has obviously tried very hard and i don't doubt there are offers on the table, but the fact that he hasn't gone yet tells us they aren't much better than ours, and if they are they're over a shorter period. A week till he stops being paid by us. This will be sorted by monday.

He's a free agent this time next week, if he isn't announced tomorrow I'd say he's gone.

Yep, as he won't be training with the squad either....although he could pay a fee and train with the players I guess ;-) The thing is if he hangs it out and doesn't go to a championship club its going to look a little sad........like however long he waited nobody wanted him so he had to sign for rovers. Signing early or even tomorrow makes it look like a positive decision from him that HE has chosen who he wants to play for.

Excellent point that.Unlikely but maybe Charlton offered Ajose a better deal than any championship club. They do seem to be flashing the cash at the moment.

Hopefully the club will have set a deadline of next Friday and if the offer is not accepted it's withdrawn, as if he doesn't really want to be here we may as well spend the £5K a week on a striker who does. At the end of day he's still unproven at Div 1 level let alone Championship.
Ajose is slightly different to MT as Swindon are demanding a big transfer fee, £500K, so he's going to cost around twice as much as MT too sign over 2 years.

the reality is that over the years we know that monies received through fees seem to have very little reflection on outgoing spending or wage budgets, well, I guess they do but it's always been far from black and white....

Agree with you,i think it needs to be sorted today one way or another and not drag on through to next week. It's been a rollercoater ride, originally thought he's gone, then thought he might stay, then the evil post did there best to put him out there and was positive he was going, then it went all quite and i thought like others the club was announcing signings day by day with Matty to be today lol. Hopefully know in a couple of hours. If he goes love bodin but i feel we need another cf,i feel billy was born to play on the wing.
