No need for that. They're entitled to their opinion and, until it's announced officially, no one can know for sure. Yes it certainly looks very likely he's off now, but yesterday morning for example, you could have made a reasonable case for him staying (i.e. what has no club announced the signing of him yet?). I agree it now looks very likely he's off. But "wake the fck up. How can you not notice there's an elephant stood behind you with it's trunk up your @ss." is completely unnecessary. I used to work at Longleat, it happens more than you'd think. The Park Ranger said it to me quite often. That and "don't let the monkeys do that to you Hugo...." I'm in Court on Friday. I love those sh1t slingers. Been drinking PG Tips for 40 years.

It makes me laugh people saying withdraw the offer etc without having a clue what is really going on behind the scenes.

It makes me laugh people saying withdraw the offer etc without having a clue what is really going on behind the scenes. To be fair, I can't see any set of circumstances which lead to this scenario. I thought today would be an announcement that he's leaving, in which case the delay makes sense if he is deciding between two external offers and wants to speak to DC, for example. The bloke has reportedly had offers on the table for months, and he's missing pre-season for whichever club he ends up at because he can't decide? It's just weird. Think BRFC have to move on if nothing else, otherwise we could end up without a decent replacement.

Yes we should actively be looking for a replacement now, and I hope we are. This is beginning to turn into a O Toole saga. Just as the Uwe is turning in to the Severnside saga. We are all on a bloody magic roundabout, the same things just go round and round every 5 or 25 years

It makes me laugh people are happy to wait around forever!
We should have set a deadline and if he hasn't signed, withdraw the contract.
We can't wait forever and potentially miss out on other targets.

We did set a deadline, but no one on here knows what it is so as per usual are throwing their toys out the pram over nothing.

We can start looking without withdrawing the offer. DC and the current board strike me as proactive rather than reactive. Maybe I just have more faith in them.

Maybe we should? At least it would send Taylor a message. Personally he hasn't proved himself above Div 2 so I think and Championship clubs are taking a BIG risk. Having said that most of them can afford it

Best player of last season.
Makes complete sense to do ALL to keep him.
If any other club in League 1 was linked to him- they'd be over the moon and begging the contract gets agreed.
It's a no brainer. We should always be looking for other players anyway.

Withdraw the offer now and say thank you for everything but it's time to move on and get a new striker. But just how easy is it going to be to get in another striker who's scored over 50 goals in the last two seasons? If there's still a chance a deal can be done it makes sense to carry on negotiating at least for a few more days. Although I can't understand why the club can't give us an update given they told us the end of the month was D Day & "time was fast running out" last week.

Did they say the end of the month was D day though? I thought people just assumed so because that was when his contract was up. Would make much more sense to be the end of this week as DC is now back from his honeymoon and can sit down with Matty to work things out.

Could it be that Matty CANNOT train because he is no longer insured by BRFC?

I don't wanna see BRFC lose out on every potential replacement because we're waiting on a bloke who has had over two months to make up his mind.

Love how loads are slagging him off and saying, withdraw the contract offer, when they don't have a clue what is going on.
Dc deserved a break, however, as he only returned the weekend, that is more than likely the cause of the delay.
If I was in Taylor's position, I would want to talk to him face to face, see what his plans are for the season for the club and Taylor. Then I would want time to consider my options.
How do we know a meeting like that hasn't taken place and Dc said you have a week to decide???
Wait until we here from DC or the club before moaning, when none of us know what the situation is.

Could it be that Matty CANNOT train because he is no longer insured by BRFC? Non-contracted players train with clubs all the time

Granted he's scored a lot of goals but he's still untested at this level and if he isn't going to commit to us, we should look elsewhere.
As for people who are saying DC and Taylor have been away, they will still be talking and DC will still be talking to agents players etc.

I do not know the answer, just asking the question.
What happens if a non contract player gets a really serious injury, who pays for any medical costs?

As far as I can tell - he's gone? He is no longer employed by the club and is no longer training. He may not have made a decision per se but his indecision is to the same end. We cant assume he will eventually come back, evidently he is clearly considering positions elsewhere or he would have signed. We need to plan for league 1 without him now. The door will remain open as long as we have a spot to fill but I think its safe to say there is a spot to fill. That's my understanding anyway.
On another note, I have massive respect for what he has done at rovers but if he is beginning to put us in a position where it hinders our progress just to allow him a fall back manoeuvre, that leaves a sour taste.
