i also feel we should offer sam barratt some sort of short term deal to prove himself looks like a player that can only improve and be a non league gem good set pieces crossing and long throwings is much needed in league one Agreed - it worked with Billy Bodin. A difference though is that Bodin had league pedigree.

Personally I would use the 4 performances against Portsmouth and Accrington as a leveller because this is the sort of standard teams we will be playing most weeks and therefore would have liked too have seen 3 quality signings in before the first game to set the existing players high standards to reach to get a place in the side. Whilst I have a great deal of faith in DC I really feel we should be approaching the first game with a bit more quality than last year. I really expected better quality to come in because IMO there are quite a few in the squad who didn't even set League 2 alight. Although we have numbers in the midfield area and strikers I am not sure we have the quality to give the top 7 a good go. I very much hope I am mistaken.

I think top 6 would actually be way too much too quick. Great, but fraught with problems. Consolidation this year would do me. Improvements next season and go for it in the third, UWE ready to go. I'd settle for that.

When you say you would like the new players in before the first game do you mean pre-season as there is plenty of time left to bring in 2 or 3 before the season starts? To be honest all this top 7 talk is a bit far fetched in my opinion as I think consolidation is the key for this year.

I would hardly call the 3 new lads quality. Not knocking them as they haven't played but they're un heard of and have no background to suggest there quality. In DC I trust though so I look forward to seeing them. taylor, lockyer was un heard of and i call them quailty? Lockyer?

They might turn out to be good yet!! Hence what I've highlighted!
But they didn't fill me with excitement when I heard they signed as I've never heard of them and they're not hot property.
AGAIN! They might turn out to be amazing but until I see it ill remain grounded. They haven't done anything prior to joining us to suggest they're quality.

I think Luke James may take a while to bed in, but I'm hoping that he can live up to his early career potential. I'd say they are quality signings.
Fair enough your entitled to your opinion as am I.

And a lot of people had doubts about those signings prior to the season starting.
I'm not writing these guys off! I'm just saying they've done nothing prior to joining us to suggest there quality.
I hope they do turn out quality but people are getting carried away with the new lads with out even seeing them play 10+ games.

Only recently!

Anyone who has had half an understanding of the FL these last few years would have heard of these 3.
I've heard of two of them but never have I watched them and thought ye I want them in our team. They've had average appearances against us.
AGAIN!! They might be amazing and I hope they are but I've not seen anything from these lads to suggest they're "quality"

With the money we have something a bit more exciting than Port Vales rejects.

Good news. It always makes me laugh when he says 4 or 5 , or 2 or 3 - surely he knows how many When it comes to Rovers you can be sure it means the lower number - or it always has been that way up till now. Agreed, every year so many people want half the team changed. The bulk of our conference squad got us promoted again with only a few additions and not many leaving (Monkhouse last season, Parkes this season for example). Ok, some will struggle to make the step up but remember that wholesale changes eventually led to our downfall under Trollope.

The thing with DC is that he will soon ship out anyone who is not making the grade. So, whilst they have all agreed new deals, they will be under no illusion as to the level they will be expected to perform at.
