Payne and Beautyman from Posh would be good additions. Payne has Championship experience where he did well but has fallen away of late, perfect DC signing really. Why Beautyman? He was non league until he went to Posh, and they obviously think he is not good enough, so why would he be good enough for us?

With the money we have something a bit more exciting than Port Vales rejects. What Money is that then ?
Um where have you been for the last 6 months?!!!
It was to my understanding we're exempt from FFP for another season and we have a billionaire owner.

My only gripe really is the mention of the date when the window shuts as I feel strongly that you should be preparing to have your team ready for the FIRST game. DC has had all the summer to make the signings and we are now moving into the friendlies where IMO he should be fielding nearly his first choice team and see them playing TOGETHER not split up and all over the place. I was not expecting money to be splashed everywhere to show our new found wealth but at least some signs of it by signing some players with experience and qualities we were missing when we played some of our tougher matches. Physical strength in the midfield area, a top notch striker at League 1 level and a central midfielder who actually scores goals plus a goalkeeper who is on the right side of 30 to challenge Mildenhall. I believe that Hartley and Moore are both good signings but we really need three more at the very least. As regards consolidation whilst it sounds sensible in practice it will not cause two important things 1) The need to continue growing and using the advantage which our success has brought- success can breed success because it can come with momentum ie Burton. 2) The need to continue to grow support- whilst some are saying consolidation will be great experience shows that consolidation will not bring in the crowds and it doesn't take a lot for fickle fans to stay away and a poor start to the season will soon see crowds down to 6500 whereas with a few more new signings BEFORE the first game will see us sell out at Scunthorpe and be over 10,000 for the first home game. Unfortunately this game revolves around success and that means chasing the top prizes in League 1. The thing is some players aren't available until later on. We would have never got Gaffney in July or August. We are not aiming to consolidate. DC wants to finish as high up as possible.

Wael has stated many times he will not be "trowing" money at the club but want's it to evolve under its own steam

I honestly don't think that's a big ask especially in todays game.

Blimey Steve you haven't cheered up much over the summer, I coyuld understand your concners if they were on the back of two poor seasons but DC's proved over the last couple of seasons he knows what he's doing. I've not seen anything from DC where he's suggested he's happy to consolidate/finish mid table this season? As far as signings you sense his main workis done for the summer and any additionswill probably be sqaud players, if so, it doesn't really matter if he signs them nearer the transfer deadline when their wage demands have probably dropped. It also makes sense to leave his options open just in case we have a weakeness in one area when the season gets underway, as we did at goalie last season.

Adam Bogdan has just signed for Wigan, seems Wigan fans think Nichols will be out on loan again. Does anyone think DC would consider Nichols again?
I can't remember whether he left on good terms or not..

Hope we don't get Nicholls as would prefer a goalkeeper who can keep out shots from 30 yards and Nicholls would be no improvement on Mildenhall. Topper Gas, I really cannot see any point in signing more squad players and did not see anything from DC to suggest that would be the case. We have plenty of squad players and still need quality starters. I was not saying that DC had said such,it was other posters who said they would be satisfied with consolidation. No results or games to cheer me up- Roll on Scunny!!

I just can't see DC bringing in 3 players who will be first team players from day 1 it just doesn't seem his style, even the players he has signed hardly look guaranteed a first place, either DC's called this one right and last season's players can make the step up, or he's got it horribly wrong and we will be lacking in quality.

I don't expect us to spend much money at all and nowhere near the amount from earlier in this thread. I hope he would be looking at getting a keeper to help out because I think it's where we could be vulnerable. I would be surprised if it were Nicholls, didn't DC say something in a fans meeting last December about him going back to Wigan? I just seem to pick up the feeling that apart from getting a few youngsters through the trials, perhaps 1 or 2, DCs main business is done now that MT has signed. May be wrong but it's even a feeling coming from the forums that not much more business is expected. When you look at the numbers, we have a sizeable squad with quality. Whether it's good enough we will soon know. In DC I trust. UTG!

Well that isn't what DC is saying p in his interview on the OS about Matty - still looking at bringing up to 3 player before the end of August. He usually delivers what he says.
