in the know, or just being a Keith Chimp? Like most people on here, an educated guess based on comments DC made today

Let's just sign any tom dick or Harry Paul buckle style. 3 year contracts all round !! Let's resign Matt Gill and adam Virgo to keep our physio busy as well.
Buckle did sign players will resale value though, i'm thinking Carayol and Smith off the top of my head, possibly Woodards as well?
McGhee was a bigger waste of space but I take your point!
Smudge left on a free.

DC has said a few times since the end of last season that he was still looking to bring in 2 or 3 quality new players. With less than a week to go before the seasons kicks off, I must admit that I did personally expect these to be in place by now; or - at the very least - 1 of them! Even 2 of the 3 I'd have thought we'd probably have had in place by now. I'm sure we'll go and sign someone today now I've said this (sod's law), but I must admit that I'm quite surprised we're still waiting on these 2 or 3 "quality additions" with less than a week to go until we kick off the new season. Is anyone else starting to get concerned that we might not see any of these 2 or 3 signings materialise?! I know it's "evolution, not revolution", but I have to admit that I expected to see more spending on the playing side of things than we have to date, even with this in mind. Perhaps DC and MT have ate up the majority of the playing budget between them? Maybe we expected more of the current squad to move on than have? ...who knows. But DCs comments have been re-iterated since the vast majority of the squad re-signed, so I can't really see that that's the issue? I have to say, I'm a little underwhelmed at present. But in fairness that's probably my own fault for having (seemingly) unrealistic expectations. Is anyone else feeling similar? Or am I being a tad harsh? Bit disappointed with this post, feel it is over negative. We have kept the squad together, extended DC's contract. I am fairly happy with the signings made. I feel DC will want to see how the current crop get on before making any signings, maybe 1 more before the weekend.. I would have liked us to have sign a CM and GK but all in all I think it has been a fairly successful summer and I think we can have a good season. I really feel we can make the playoffs.

I have faith in the current squad and manager.
We'll organised, spirited and a decent style of attacking footie.
Carry on.

Who does Tom Dick play for? Matt Gill made a forward pass once ,against Hereford I think it was. The worst captain in my years watching the gas. That photo sends a shiver down my spine.

But in fairness that's probably my own fault for having (seemingly) unrealistic expectations. Is anyone else feeling similar? Or am I being a tad harsh? Agree with all that and feel pretty much the same. I certainly wasn't expecting us to go out and spend millions rebuilding the squad but given our new owners supposed wealth I did think we might see one or two quality additions that might involve a transfer fee. So far we haven't spent a penny on transfer fees since the new owners arrived. Now if you can go out and get quality players for free all the better but so far we've signed a centre back from L2, a winger from Port Vale and a striker on loan, who Peterborough decided isn't up to the job. I doubt any are on massive wages and fans of those clubs were not sorry to see them leave. Hopefully they'll discover their best form with Rovers but I was hoping we might sign at least a couple of players that have excelled in L1 and been definite improvements to our first choice 11. I'd really like to see a GK & CM signed. I'd be concerned if we get to the end of August and only have Puddy & Mildenhall to play between the sticks. Hopefully Clarke is making progress behind the scenes and we'll see the 2 or 3 quality additions before the end of the month. truth is whoever we sign fans of the club who has chose to play for rovers will spout out that they are glad hes gone as he was rubbish etc so i think your pretty naive to believe that stuff. both hartley and moore were regular 1st team players and were offered new deals,a friend of mine is a plymouth fan who firmly believes hartley was there best defender last season. remember forest green fans telling us how suprised they were that we signed taylor? i do

Whilst Broom has played well in spells in friendlies it is clear to see his inexperience and in League 1 he should be a substitute and initially given his chance to come on when result is in our favour and I will be very disappointed if due to injuries he starts on Saturday when DC has had all summer to get quality signings in. It would not be fair on the lad to start him in what is a very difficult first game and would IMO be the same as starting Lyttle at Orient last season- again very early on in the season. IMO all the older players in the squad can make the step up as bit piece players however Harrison, Ollie Clarke and Jake Gosling hardly tore League 2 apart and maybe a place on the bench is the best we can get from them. There are quite a few others who it is questionable whether they can now play above League 2 and IMO three is the minimal number of new blood we should be getting in and whilst I did not expect to see millions thrown in it would have been nice to at least see some signs that we do have the wealth to continue this journey. I am not worrying a great deal at this stage and on the goalkeeper point I understand that if either Puddy or Mildenhall were injured we could bring in an emergency loan so there are greater needs than another keeper in the 2 or 3 that DC is going to sign. The problem with leaving signings so late is that generally they don't appear for whatever reason!

I remember a certain Wayne Rooney getting his first game at the tender age of 16 and he did ok in that game.....

Slightly ridiculous comparison. Remember as well that he had a vastly experienced Manchester United team playing around him whereas we have many questions to be answered at this level amongst the rest of our squad in exactly the position Lyttle found himself last season and when did we see him again?

Rooney's first game was for Everton. Against Arsenal if I remember rightly and he scored an unbelievable lob from 30 yards.
