DC has said a few times since the end of last season that he was still looking to bring in 2 or 3 quality new players. With less than a week to go before the seasons kicks off, I must admit that I did personally expect these to be in place by now; or - at the very least - 1 of them! Even 2 of the 3 I'd have thought we'd probably have had in place by now. I'm sure we'll go and sign someone today now I've said this (sod's law), but I must admit that I'm quite surprised we're still waiting on these 2 or 3 "quality additions" with less than a week to go until we kick off the new season. Is anyone else starting to get concerned that we might not see any of these 2 or 3 signings materialise?! I know it's "evolution, not revolution", but I have to admit that I expected to see more spending on the playing side of things than we have to date, even with this in mind. Perhaps DC and MT have ate up the majority of the playing budget between them? Maybe we expected more of the current squad to move on than have? ...who knows. But DCs comments have been re-iterated since the vast majority of the squad re-signed, so I can't really see that that's the issue? I have to say, I'm a little underwhelmed at present. But in fairness that's probably my own fault for having (seemingly) unrealistic expectations. Is anyone else feeling similar? Or am I being a tad harsh?

I think that we will have an announcement of signings early this week.

I expect (hope) there will be one signing before the Scunny game. Then DC may add one or two more before the window closes at the end of the month.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these 2 or 3 don't come in until January. It seems to be the way DC likes to operate

When the season gets underway and players who were getting game time in friendlies are not getting FL minutes under their belt they will be having "clear the air" talks with their managers and if they are not in "immediate" plans will seek a loan or permanent move before the window shuts. That is when the quality players become available at an acceptable price. You can get quality players now ...but at twenty per cent more than you'll get them in four weeks time.

I think you are going to be disappointed and I think the 2 or 3 more is now being quoted out of context. Have another listen to DC's interview on 5th July. Bear in mind at this stage we had signed Peter Hartley and Byron Moore, but not Luke James (loan) and Matty Taylor still looked like he would not be re-signing for Rovers. The key points from this interview: - He was looking at a 'couple' more signings - They had to be the right player at the right price - We would not be paying ridiculous wages - The window is open until the end of August and we would be considering signings until the window was closed - Anyone expecting 'marquee' signings was mistaken - He was also looking to develop players within the squad (as DC and his team have a good track record)

Perhaps like some fans, clubs and players think/thought we were going to throw money around
We still have til the end of August and I would be surprised to see a loan from a higher division club when they have finished their business

This would be my guess too. Think DC will be looking at Championship players who haven't had a game after the first week or two of the season.

Perhaps if someone is going to the open day today they could politely ask DC?

I think we're more likely to see the signing or signings nearer the end of the window. With the squad we've got we should finish mid table st least I reckon , a couple of good signings could see us really push on again and go for three in a row so I hope they do happen

socrates... I dont share your enthusiasm i'm afraid... DC even said last year that he didnt have the best players in the league, but we probably had the best "Never Say Die" attitude... I think the gap between League 1 and 2 is a lot bigger than League 2 to the Conference, especially the top 10 teams in League 1. I think we have maybe just enough to stay up this season, especially now we have MT on board again, but I dont think we'll be pushing anywhere near the top half with the current bunch of players. In my eyes, we do need 2 or 3 more players of better quality coming in. A goalie, a better CB to partner Locks, and a quality midfielder. I'm sure better players will come available towards the end of August, as other clubs make their signings and pass on the players who are no longer needed... We'll see. I'm not panicking, but a couple more would be nice.

No point it will just be his normal wait and see comment Bit like when I leave my laptop for repair. Standard Management response.... better than "its full of Tai boys porn, come back tomorrow after we have had a good look" Quickly followed by "give me more money and i won't tell your wife" Works every time

At the end of the day DC's proven he knows what he's doing as a manager, at least in the Conference & Div 2 anyway, if he feels the squad is good enough going into our first fixture I can't see there's any need for us to get too worried about the lack of any further signings. Plus all the present squad will know if they don't perform they could be replaced - more DC kidology? - if we perform poorly in our first few games then it's time to worry in my view.

1] dc always he will only sign players if they are the "right character" at the right price etc so its only 3 new signings if they meet the criteria. 2] the window dosnt close until the end of august and there could be better deals for the club closer the window closing. 3] i think several of our players will go out on loan in the near future to make room for possible additions otherwise the squad will be much too big
