byron moore 356 app 40 goals a good career but a injury hit start for rovers peter hartley 250 app 20 goals played in the stevenage and hartlepool relegation teams in league 1 a mixed start for us but looks very uncomfortable in a back 3 loans, luke james 150 app 21 goals a promising young player whose career has nosedived, has done nothing of note at all yet with rovers connor roberts 45 app 0 goals 45 league 2 games in a desperately poor yeovil town team hiram boateng 29 app 1 goal most of his appearances in league 2 with plymouth,,good debut with the ball for rovers but i didnt see him defending much? jake clarke-salter 1 app 0 goals a promising kid with no experience of league football and with an injury charlie colkett 1 app 0 goals promising boy with no experience of league football, looked ok against a tiring 10 man rochdale.
apart from byron moore none of our signings have done a damn thing in this division and i think we should have spent the money we paid for 7 on 2 or 3 nearer certain bets in this league
any 2 or 3 would have been better bets than the 7 for me,,,, charlie mulgrew leon best jay simpson derrick williams scott wagstaffe john brayford kieran agard lloyd dyer jay emanuel thomas not saying we could have got them the young kids we have might turn out great but im puzzled we didnt get a couple of proven top quality league 1 standard players an example of which are in my list. hope we dont regret it any opinions?

Disagree. Prefer the 7 signings rather than 2 or 3 marquee signings. Cover in every position. Had we not re-signed Matty T then DC might have brought in a 'marquee' striker. Think Big Pete Hartley will be a success and notch about 10 goals. Roos is an upgrade on Mildy & Puddsy. HiRambo is a Beast. Potential player of the year. Byron Moore - Impossible to judge yet as he hasn't been fit (note: Wagstaff has missed the first month for Gills with injury).

Most of your list would have cost a lot of dosh and are what I would call quite big name signings which I don't think is DC's style. I believe Agard was close to 1m. Personally I would have loved to have seen most from your list but I must say that I have pretty high hopes for most of the signings if DC plays them correctly or should I say if he selects them which might be nearer the mark. I still feel that Montano could be a good player in this division if he is given a chance and by that I don't mean 1 chance every 5 or 6 games. Lee Brown has now been given plenty of chances as a wing back and has rarely looked any good at all in that position. Leadbitter is the same. Some players get a fair chance under DC and some don't and it will be interesting to see how the new signings go. Personally I would start them all. by the way the two Chelsea kids are as highly rated as Abrahams at City so no reason why they should not shine in League 1. Boetang looks a real class player to me and Byron Moore has been very good in the past. Roberts won all Yeovils awards last season and Peter Hartley although a bit slow has IMOI only looked poor when played in DC's flimsy three!! We have to also give all the players a fair chance.

If those list of players were your expectations or hopes, you were always going to be disappointed. Look at who they signed for or their previous wages.
Give the players a chance. So many threads like these over the last two years.

We could have probably got one of those (Wagstaff) and that would have been hopeful! You can't criticise the signings when they haven't really played except Hartley and then suggest players that would cost at least £30,000/£40,000 combined a week, probably more than that! Not to mention the couple of million needed in transfer fees! Madness!

As I have said many times before; it is not guaranteed that a player who was on fire at another club will be the same for Rovers. Again I will use the example of the lump of wood , Mickey (taking) Evans. On the other side of the coin you have Matty Taylor: A bench warmer at FG, yet doing the business so far in this league.

Ridiculous post imo, I can't see why you would be puzzled at why we didn't go out and get 'proven' league 1 quality standard players, anyone who has listened to DC or has seen the type of players he's signed over the last couple of years would know that's just not his style, and we are much better off for it if you ask me, also who's to say that even if we signed everyone on your list that they would've done the business for us? To start questioning the signings after only a small handful of games and only 1 game since we've signed 4 of them seems a bit ott if you ask me, patience is a virtue and I'm confident in the signings and give DC a bit of time to work with them and we'll be just fine.

You could make a similar list for most of our players before they signed for us.

To list appearances and goals is pretty thin evidence. Where were these guys in the pecking order? Loan appearances? Did they come through youth systems?
Sean Riggs rovers stats were no doubt quite poor when he left us. At one time, every mediocre player that left us seemed to go on and flourish.

All the new players written off after 5 games. It's just what we do.

"...All the new players written off after 5 games..." Not so! (Only Hartley has even played 5 games)

The OP clearly has less patience than the majority of gasheads and would probably received a better reception if he had waited for ten games or so and made his post then if the situation was still very similar.

What I find odd is our two best players on Saturday were MT & Sincs, the two with JC who you'd expect, in theory anyway, to struggle most at Div 1 level.
The biggest worry for me in our present squad is a like for like replacement for Mansell, I guess that's DC concern as well hence he keeps playing 3 across midfield.
