With this show tonight, his commentary stint on Saturday what is this spurt of publicity in preparation for?? World domination? Disappointed you didn't title this thread "Wael watching". I agree with the PR timing; Q&A last week, press report on the training base plan, possible two weeks from the green light re UWE, Chelsea signings. I wonder what prompted the BBC to fly all the way to Jordan for a TV interview and now. Could be a coincidence of course.
I caught the radio show on iPlayer and enjoyed it. He did seem understandably coy when talking about the UWE and training base but the Post Q&A reports from those there are reassuring. I did like the snippet they broadcast interviewing his friend, interesting that he thought Rovers made him more relaxed, makes you wonder what he was doing before if Rovers chills you out!!!
The other comment from his friend that stood out for me was the reaction to the scenes of him being carried down Gloucester Road. We could build up a very good relationship with Jordan.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37322993BBC Inside Out West reporter Andy Howard has been to the Middle East to find out more about the investment bankers, and shares his experiences of his visit. Jordan's position on the map made for interesting reading. Bordered by Syria, Iraq and Israel, it hardly sounded like the ideal location for a short stay. "You'll be surprised," said the voice on the other end of the phone. That voice belonged to Wael Al Qadi. It was a couple of weeks after the amazing scenes of jubilation at the Memorial Stadium on 7 May. The dust had just about settled on an incredible end to the season. It was clear to me that we had to find out more about the new Bristol Rovers owner and, indeed, his homeland. So, despite the geography, we arranged to do just that. Why? Because it is very unusual to see a man from the Middle East kissing an English football club's badge and clapping the home terrace. It is even more unusual to watch a club president on the shoulders of fans heading towards the local pub. But these are unusual times at Bristol Rovers. BBC Inside Out's Andy Howard poses with (left to right) Hani, Wael and Samer Al Qadi I suppose Jordan looks like you would expect - a contrast of sprawling, pale, low-rise cities, and mile upon mile of barren desert. But it functions like an island of relative peace, in an area dogged by war. It is also very clear that football, especially English football, is big news. I mentioned low-rise buildings, but on the first day I visited one of the tallest and newest in all of Amman - the Arab Jordanian Investment Bank, a multi-million pound, purpose-built skyscraper for one of the region's biggest businesses. There, I met the Al Qadi brothers - Hani, Samer and Wael, and their father Abdulkader - who set up the business from scratch more than 30 years ago. They were all welcoming, warm, and interested in what a BBC reporter from 3,000 miles away wanted to find out. The older brothers and father admitted they had needed massive convincing to buy Bristol Rovers, but that they can now see what Wael was going on about. "It was the best day of my life," said Samer, describing the 2-1 win against Dagenham which secure promotion, when he watched the second half in the Blackthorn End. "It was crazy, I can tell you." Over the course of the week I met: Wael's wife, who said: "It's like we have a new baby, a Bristol Rovers baby." His footballing contacts: "Wael has not bought a football club for a plaything, this is his ambition, and his passion." His very honest friends: "I won't say what we used to call him, but now we've named him 'Mr President'." He certainly seems to be enjoying the ride, so far. The full BBC Inside Out documentary airs on Monday, September 12, on BBC One West at 7.30pm and will also be available on the BBC iPlayer.

Anybody spot the Matty Taylor celebration after Wael scored his penalty? Thought he came across very well, so genuine, really think we are in for some special times ahead. Making the championship, new stadium and training ground all achievable under his guidance.

Wasn't his "friend" you are talking actually his brother if your talking about the chap with short greyish hair on the TV programme? After the build up to the TV show not a lot was actually revealed about Wael or the family business, although it did reaffirm that he does seem a decent person.

Top man is Wael, what a humble, honest and respectable person he is - No matter what is going in with UWE which of course we are all desperate for - we have landed on our feet here.

Definitely played a clip on Twentyman at the Mem last week, when his best friend was interviewed. It would appear to me quite a lot was edited out of the actual final film for the inside out programme tonight.

I see they're having something of a wankfest over on One Turd.
It seems they have forgotten Radio Bristol dedicate a whole hour to their club on a Monday evening. Having a dump I think it's called.
You would have thought they would have been more interested in discussing that, rather than a Gas orientated programme,
The lengths some people will go to to prove they're not obsessed, eh?

If he delivers what everyone has failed to for the last 35 years (the elusive stadium) he will be a hero, if not he will be the one who got our hopes up the most but yet again turned out the same as all the rest. Hope it's the former.

Hope it's the former. If he does deliver the stadium, a forlorn slightly overweight millionaire will be standing outside the UWE, wondering where to park and, under his breath, singing a song to the merry thousands who flock into the soulless bowl. You made a promise That we'd never part Then you turned around And you broke, Lord, my heart Now you're standing there Saying, I do Holding hands With somebody new When you know that It should have been me Oh, it should have been me Oh, oh, it should have been me Baby, how can you do this to me
