"State of the art" or just a decent training ground for a club of our size? Ultimately a "Championship" standard academy is the aim of the Board, plus get all our age groups in one location for training.

I'm very confident that these changes will go through with one small change

Just picked up on the proposed new training ground in Hortham Lane. Almondsbury. Thought I would have a look on Google Earth site for the location. If this is the land adjacent to the M5 which I believe, then the birds eye view of the land shows the outline of a full size football pitch. I presume therefore that this is already a sports ground. Are you sure that isn't the outline of the pig pens/runs as I can't recall ever see anybody playing football in that area when I've driven past on the motorway, although I guess at 70mph I wouldn't be paying that much attention in that direction! The fact pp was granted in the past for something similar must help our case, looking at the site you do wonder why Almondsbury council are objecting as, apart from half a dozen houses overlooking the site, it hardly effects anybody on Hortham Lane. If you look at a few other planning applications it seems parish councils make a point of objecting to a lot of planning applications for one reason or another , i'm sure south glos has to inform the parish councils of all applications and await their comments

From brown envelopes to park benches.

Erm allegedly you aren't far off, plus a smattering of school ties and sticking together of course the old adage of never pishing off a parish councillor springs to mind as this again allegedly results in an objection

I have the impression that the objections are just for domestic consumption, come next election, being seen to stand up for their Ward. Probably a case of "I object, now what was the question?"

Can be a bit more than that if you feel like wasting a few days of your life search applications in one area, you soon see patterns developing in objections (allegedly).

Five more letters have now been received which are all in favour. Don't see any problem with the app going through, hopefully within a day or so of the 6th December.

Lets hope the planning officers take a tolerant view of the club and its supporters ( Whatever their views or personal leanings).

Heard today that a contract has been signed to continue using cribbs facilities until may 2018. Well if that's true then that's a good thing. If we got permission tomorrow there's no way the facilities would be ready by March next year. This would take the pressure off and allow new pitches and facilities to bed in.

I thought we were due to move in next summer? Although haven't we had problems in the past with training pitches (under PT?) taking far longer than expected to bed in?

Heard today that a contract has been signed to continue using cribbs facilities until may 2018. Really? It was the contract expiring in Mar '17 at Golden Hill which was prompting the move.

If we are going to spend £m's at Almondsbury I guess it makes sense to go in as high as possible, although it would nice if there was some real movement/investment on one of these projects rather than, seemingly, endless talk/rumours.

With the massive recruitment of behind the scenes staff recently, i think going for an "entry" level academy to start with is not a step Wael wants.....

Is anyone able to post the evil posts story on rovers extending the cribbs training ground lease for another 12 months. I can only see the first paragraph. The rest is blanked out.
