Now we are up in the play-off zone, thoughts naturally turn to the actual prospect of promotion to The Championship. But, one of the requirements of being in the Championship is that stadiums must be all-seater by the start of the fourth season in the league. So essentially, the UWE stadium would have to be built within 3 years of promotion.
The Amex stadium in Brighton took 2½ years, as did the MK Dons.
An announcement would be a nice Christmas present.

Having said that I like your optimism! I think that if we’re in the Top Six come Christmas it’s going to get very interesting indeed, both in terms of playing staff and the new stadium. A promotion to the Championship would likely make us a much more attractive prospect to potential investors…

If it's going to happen there will likely be an announcement very soon because building has to start by Jan or planning permission will need to be renewed.
If we get promoted to the championship at the Mem I think two temporary stands, one above the away enclosure the other above the home terrace on the other side of the stand on the same side will at least give us a capacity of close to 15,000 enabling us to boost the regular support base ahead of a move.

With the strict Health and Safety rules applied for sporting venues, the idea of temporary stands is a non-starter. Although it would be good to get improved capacity for the Mem, we are stuck with a maximum crowd limit of approx. 12,000. This is why we need more urgency in getting the UWE Stadium project up and running ASAP. Crowds are starting to increase with the teams success so we need news on the project NOW! Once again, we are being left behind as many smaller clubs then ours have had new stadia built! The longer talks go on, then I can see the time when the UWE Stadium Project will be abandoned - and we are then back to square one!. |

It's just a bit disappointing that at the q&a there were a lot of positive vibes about the uwe which now seem to have gone flat. A two week feasibility study has drifted into 8. There doesn't seem to be any urgency with the project and urgency is indeed necessary. We can hardly get any more fans into the mem and we aren't even into a proper promotion race yet, the club on the field is moving a lot faster than off it. The importance of uwe is growing by the week, if it isn't delivered we risk losing clarke, taylor etc and all the goodwill that has been built amongst the support base in the last eight months.

But it had to start again when Sainsbury's pulled out,it's the same ground but the finances are totally different and the time scale is really from when our new owners took over. |

Ten years?! It's now or never, think wael needs to understand people have been waiting 30 years for this not six months. There isn't a lot of patience out there either. We have momentum but that can quickly be lost.

Wael knows people are impatient, and the closer it gets, the more impatient people will become. He hasn't been waiting thirty years, so he will not feel the pain like we do. But istm he will be doing what's best for the long term interests of the club, and so we just have to grin and bear it. Putting pressure on him to rush things through could be, ultimately, counter productive.

I can see what you are saying about 4 years however don't forget the stadium funding etc, was as watertight as the titanic In view of that no one is going to splash cash willy nilly ,not until everything relating to it is gone over with a fine tooth comb, or simply put knowing the bits we know would you just start building not knowing if something in the paperwork would bite you in the ass in future |

Wael mentioned in his interview with the Guardian that dealing with UWE isn't like dealing with a private company where a CEO makes all of the decisions. Everything has to go to a committee which takes time. I believe this is why it's taking so long. However, we haven't got any other choice at the moment because if it's not UWE we'd have to start all over again. |
