Wouldn't disagree with that Chippenhamgas, but if the project isn't viable then no one will put up the money. It's the reality of life I'm afraid. As it happens, I think we will be getting a favourable outcome hopefully by year end if not sooner. It seems the UWE Governors meet every year in the the last week of November. If we are waiting for their agreement on something, it won't be agreed until this meeting. I would hope we should hear something soon after, so early December. For an important decision, there would be every chance of getting the Governors together outside of their normal meeting schedule. That said, I don't think you are too far off the mark. I agree with others that it seems like we are not to far away from a new deal with UWE, which will lead to the stadium with improved revenue possibilities for the club and additional investors. But on the original question, there would be a possibility of temporary conversion of the Mem to an all-seater, but this would probably reduce capacity. Let's hope we can avoid that issue with a successful outcome with UWE.

That was my suggestion before Saturday's MK game but I doubt that's going to happen as Rovers & the UWE will want a press conference in front of the local media, plus hopefully they'll be an announcement before our next home game anyway. I wouldn't hold your breath

Thanks bidefordgas, will do. BTW and way off topic - what's the best board to try and track down old mates? I was a Tote-ender in the 70s but joined the Army and lost touch. Not lived in Bristol since 77. I use this forum but there is also, Gasheads.Org andthe not606 forum. Think you will find a good scattering of ex toteenders on all of them. There is an annual reunion held ever year in one of the old Eastville pubs possibly the Black Swan. Feel sure others will come along with more info.

It's more to do with seats per turnstiles/toilets/stewards etc. To be honest it would be extremely hard for us to fit 2 more temporary stands in. Aren't there temporary scaffolding stands available that would fit behind the dribuild end terraces? There's no room, not to mention you'd only be able to see 3/4 of the pitch...

The clock is ticking now, the club can't progress any further without the uwe, we are about to hit a brick wall. After xmas we will be turning fans away. Fans or glory seekers? cant recall fans being turned away when we were in the conference I for one wish they would just redevelop the mem, make that double the capacity and keep us on Gloucester Road!!

Why bother doubling the capacity if if will only be filled with all these glory seekers of which you speak? We definitely don't want to be attracting new fans due to success do we so I feel your idea could send out the wrong message that these people are welcome.

Last year the Tote End reunion was held at the old British Legion in Kingswood. John Keyes organises it and can be contacted on Facebook.

Yes. Let's only allow the faithful 5000 in. Won't take long to get to the championship then. As for the Mem, how sad that anyone still thinks it could ever be made a viable venue. One obvious point being that if it was redeveloped, the first thing that would happen is that the surrounding streets would be made resident parking only. That was a prerequisite in the original application. And guess who has to pay for it? You guessed it. Rovers. It would cost over a million to get the signage etc up, and over £200,000 per annum to maintain it. But never mind lets redevelop the mem.

Agreed let's keep it how it is i like being an underdog, I like being there through thick and thin, I like the fact we don't have double scarfers and goal music and a drum and a big empty all seater bullsh!t empire. I like standing and I like Gloucester Road i just don't equate success with a shiny stadium and I don't like woodworm latching on cos we've tipped into the playoffs rovers means more to me than spending £40m on a new bowl without a pub in reasonable walking distance Call me old fashioned please, I like that as well

And we'll end up back in the Conference.

I know people in chippers who don't support rovers but are interested in coming to a few games, should i tell them it's a private members club and admission by invitation only? Absolute nonsense.

Apart from Woking away, the Alfreton home game and Forest Green. Sod the faithful 5000, there were just over 2000 of us at some of the early games at Twerton - we should be the only ones allowed in

And we'll end up back in the Conference. But the Sh!t can modernise their stadium, keep their home with all their parking problems and muster an assault on the championship playoffs? Can't see them sliding towards conference mediocrity because the dog walkers w@nked into their breakfast youre all deluded drum bangers , all you want is bragging rights about having a shiny stadium , I'm not interested, if we get promoted this season Wael and Hamer will have to deal with it , you can't Magic a stadium up in twelve month and keep everyone happy . I firmly believe the owners are miles behind the team in terms of progress and DC is putting immense pressure on the owners with the current success on the field Why get hung up on the stadium every bloody minute? Enjoy the success we currently have and let the chips fall. If it happens so be it but personally I couldn't give two Sh!ts about the new stadium and being surrounded by plastic fans that will disappear as soon as DC's bubble bursts, or him and Taylor follow the big dollar and we slide down of our own volition be great in that stadium then won't it? Just like MK Dons two weeks ago I'd wager. That drum was brilliant really kept the 5500 home fans and the 24000 empty seats rocking

In which case if they don't support rovers I suppose they could arbitrarily head east 20 miles and watch Swindle instead

I hear there are many Brighton fans nostalgic about the withdean! The mem means nothing to us, our spiritual home (like brighton's) long since gone. The club has no future above league one at the mem. That is pretty obvious.

They might have been nostalgic about the Goldstone Ground but none that I know go misty eyed over Withdean which was just an athletics track with temporary seating.
