seems like a twat started a thread incorrectly where i was stood in the thatchers end there was a lot of abuse aimed at the team not the ref,so for me at least the thread is correct Where I was stood in the Thatchers End I'm pretty sure it was aimed at the ref.

I like to be a complete twat both on here and at the game. Do I win a prize? later on this evening I'll start a 'new blanket for hugo' thread.... I have a terrible confession to make. I tried a new blanket for the Posh game.... It's already been on the fire.

is that the best you can come up with? hide behind your little mates quip, pathetic not hiding behind anyone mate, you are always moaning and always start arguments on here If others around you are watering you off grow a pair of nuts and say something or move, don't slag off the supporters I grew a pair against Gillingham and asked the arse behind me to get behind the team and he then spent 45 minutes performing for his mates taking the p*** out of me. Not quite so cocky when when I shook his hand later when leaving

i think ive touched a nerve with this thread because its highlighted the negativity and fickle attitude of many of our own supporters. in the blackthorn on tuesday the majority of the people around me were doom and gloom and in no way encouraging the team when we were behind. it does seem to me now that "we only sing when were winning" Our supporters are no different from supporters of the other 92 league clubs and beyond. You really haven't highlighted anything new, trust me. your right of course but i remember a time when our supporters were different from others and especially city fans

I remember a game at Twerton Park somewhere between 91 - 93 definitely pre-94 when the whole crowd turned on Rovers and started supporting the other team. I can't remember who we were playing but every time the other side made a good pass or had a shot the crowd cheered and when Parkin made a decent save the crowd booed.
It started in the first half and continued until full time. The Gas were even booed back onto the pitch after half time by the whole of Twerton Park. Anyone else remember that?
I felt a bit ashamed at the time.

Surely someone else must remember it - one of my most enduring Rovers memories.

To be fair, one thing we are excellent at is having a quick GI whenever the opposition score. That is class. I didn`t get where I am today, by having a quick GI. The American army does nothing for me, although some of those female Israeli soldiers are ok.

I remember fans at Twerton getting a telling off from Gerry Francis who said we had been spoilt and we had to remember where we had come from. This applies today and is why I agree with the OP.

We got relegated at Twerton, it's true, but it was from tier two and even when we got relegated we had decent young players coming through such as Stewart and Browning. To me it never felt depressing as we had so obviously been punching above our weight by getting promotion in the first place. The board had also backed the manager with cash but ultimately we still couldn't compete after Gerry left. My memory was of the spirit remaining pretty good throughout that time, but I might be wrong. Fast forward to the years preceding relegation to the conference and it is another world. The atmosphere was poisonous, like nothing I had experienced at Rovers before. I'm not blaming the fans - this was against a backdrop of players and managers who had no attachment with the club and frankly didn't care, along with a board who were pretty clueless, to coin a well-used term!

Also Derby away,Ellington hatrick, and Fulham away both FA Cup games we won in front of over 6,000 Rovers. Fans Turned, just like that. Tommy Cooper style. The words Arsehole and bugger were both used. Don't quote me but bloody sod may even have been shouted.

Fair play if it was Championship days but don't agree with reference to today. yes, we were in the Conf but noly due to complete mismanagement and a bolshy attitude. Our historical 'level' has been high end of Lge 1, which is ... where we are today. Today is normal. Champ is abnormal. Lge 2 and conf is certainly abnormal.
