www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/kelle-roos-recalled-by-derby-county-3510977.aspxPUBLISHED 09:15 10th January 2017 On loan goalkeeper Kelle Roos has today been recalled by his parent club, Derby County. Kelle joined Rovers, on a season-long loan, on 24th August 2016 and made his debut three days later, in a League One match against Swindon Town. However that match was abandoned after an hour, due to a waterlogged pitch, with the score at 0-0 and the record books will show that he actually made his league debut for Rovers in the home game against Rochdale on 10th September 2016. Following a run of 21 games, in all competitions, for the club he lost his place to Will Puddy for the game against Bury in early December and has spent the last six games on the bench. He returns to iPRO Stadium where the manager who made him his first signing for The Rams, Steve McLaren, has returned for a second spell in charge. “I would like to thank Kelle for his efforts for us during his loan spell,” said manager Darrell Clarke today, “and I wish him every success for the future.” Tall, dominant and a powerful kicker, Roos had initially joined PSV at the age of 13 after playing for three separate clubs in Nijmegen. He conceded just six goals in nine Conference matches with Nuneaton Town, his five clean sheets including one on his début against Chester City. Another clean sheet marked his first start with Derby County, five cup ties proving the extent of his experience before he was sent out on various loan spells. Roos conceded ten goals for bottom of the table Championship side Rotherham United, but enjoyed far more success with AFC Wimbledon, where he played against Rovers at The Mem in March 2016 and at Wembley two months later, as his side defeated Plymouth Argyle 2-0 in the play-off final to join Rovers in promotion to League One.

I'm not going to have a go at Roos, because he did his best, but I do hope this was 'agreed' behind the scenes, because on the simple face of it it seems like a Championship club throwing their toys it of the pram and dumping us in it because he's been on the bench for a few games. We are a decent Lge 1 team, none of these players from a higher level CLUB, but no higher level experience, should expect to play every week for a stable and successful team who are 8th in Lge 1.
No other fit keepers at the club and with Puddy's injury record that's dodgy.

I guess the conversation either went
DC(Derby County): Are you gonna play Roos any more? DC(Darrell Clarke): No, he's let me down, but I need him as cover for my third choice keeper. DC: f**k that noise.
or
DC: Are you gonna play Roos any more? DC: No, he's let me down, and I've got this Italian bloke lined up. DC: Fair enough, we'll call him back then, to give us time to farm him out to some other League 1 outfit (Wimbledon might be interested).

What's the chance he will play a blinder against us if he goes to another L1 club that we are still to play?

Yep more outstanding use of the loan market. Personally think he is still a better option than Puddy but without doubt we need another keeper asap. I'm presuming the young lad is still out on loan?
Laughable that an idiot thinks he's been recalled to help Derby and Steve Mcclaren

Hang on, most of us thought Roos wasn't up to Div 1 football, DC manages to manufacture a situation where he's recalled and so off our wage bill and posters complain? What would they sooner happen we're stuck with Puddy in goal and Roos on the bench until the summer. Hopefully the Italian goalie will now impress this week and he's signed or DC moves on to his next target. It's hardly DC's fault Roos is now seen as inferior to an ex Conference goalie?

Bet that's not too far away, was brilliant apparently last year for the Dons, but for some reason has been good in parts for us, like Sam Walker will go onto have a good career.

What do I need to restart that I was losing, that players have been called back by other clubs, from loans not at BRFC to be loaned elsewhere.
But of course we are Rovers and we have done it wrong and it will cost us in the future, despite all the other examples where it is happening.

The problem with the bigger clubs is they think all their kids can't or shouldn't be dropped playing at a lower level.
Facts are, he made some errors and cost us points. He was slightly out of form. That's football.

I wonder if Roos, or any of our loane have been on our payroll?
I don't know if this is the case, because I didn't ask Hamer on the train last Monday! However, I don't think we would have been in a position to take on the salaries of Championship and Premier League players. If that's the case I can understand the parent clubs recalling their players as there would be no advantage for them to pay for their players to sit on our bench or in the stand.
Having said all that I hope w have a keeper, if not the Italian trialist lined up, otherwise we're left with Puddy and the youngster.
I was really hoping we had moved on from the days of muddling through and making it up as we go along. Who could forget the farcical situation under Trollope when we didn't have a first team keeper prior to the start of a new season?
Added to that, what is that chap Will Dubey supposed to be doing? As usual, every other club in our division is doing business and we have an Italian goalie on a weeks trial.
I'm not saying I am dissatisfied with the squad, we seem to be doing very well; but DC has said that he wants to bring in 2 or 3 new faces, and that was before he lost all of the loan players (I know JCS is still technically ours, but he won't be available for another 6 weeks or so)

If so then in my opinion he might be providing DC with invaluable data that is helping him get high league 1 performances out of players who sat on conference benches or were without clubs a few years back. All speculation of course.

How are Granada coping? Have they lined up a replacement from Arsenal yet?

I don't think you can just send players back half way through an agreed loan. If the parent club doesn't want to take them back then tough. Clearly conversations take place between clubs and if the manager of the club the player is being loaned to says the player isn't in their plans, then it's in the interests of everyone that the player goes back during the window, where he can find another club if necessary. This is what is happening in the majority of cases of a player being 'recalled'.
