He's a very similar type of player technically, albeit hasn't hit hit stride in goals yet. He's only 21 which is unbelievable really. DC see's something in him and brought him in to replace Taylor at the start of the season, thus far he's basically started two games. It took Taylor 8-10 games to score and that was in the Conference. He's got goals in him. Yesterday was not the game for him to shine, give him time, it'll happen.

I remember people saying the same about Taylor , give the kid a chance for goodness sake Taylor was given 10 games - and look what he did since - I echo your thoughts - give him at least the same opportunity

Its unfair to compare LJ with Judas .Judas came to rovers after a modest FGR season and was slow to start...and that was in the conference. You can not compare one lad who is thrown in the deep end of league one with a lad that had too full seasons at a lower level to hone his goalscoring game.
Maybe there is something to be said for loaning a striker out for a season at a conference club in their first stages. LJ [although on loan already] might have done better if he had been at FGR ,Eastleigh or Torquay to get his goalscoring rolling. ?

Blue Butterfly - posts:many. All drivel. I really don't understand what DC is doing letting this guy post on the forum. Recently signed but I really don't see potential to improve the forum. Disgraceful performance yesterday, it's a wonder they persevere with him. Clearly there are better posters out there. Im not a nodding donkey like you in other words

the bullsh** part is dc implying that luke james is an equal replacement for taylor and an interview at least a week before deadline day by hamer gave a pretty good clue that taylor was going. The club knew with such a low release clause we would most likely lose taylor so we should have been prepared and ready to bring a striker in. FFS!!!!!!! Taylors gone, get f*cking over it!!!!!!!!!! What's the point in dragging it all back up? Anyone with a suspicious mind would think you have an ulterior motive..? So why didnt we replace him,its passive supporters like you that helped us out of the league. We as supporters and customers should always question things we are unhappy with,in a way city fans attitude is better than our blind acceptance of our saviour and manager. Its ok to have doubts about decisions etc

Blue Butterfly's modus operandi: 1. create controversial thread couched in confrontational language. 2. Get called out for chatting sh1te. 3. Up the ante with a couple more confrontational posts on that thread, maybe even. 4. Come over all "Bloody hell guys I didn't mean it like that. You've taken my overtly pointed comments in totally the wrong way". 5. Repeat step 1. And yours is "we are back in our rightful place that will do,and i dont ever want us in that nasty premier league"

Moderators note: Apologies to the OP, but i have found it necessary to edit the thread title to reflect the players true stats which were incorrectly presented. Thanks in advance for your understanding. I didnt make it clear that my original post was his post hartlepool record so thats fine

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that given time Luke James will prove to be a quality striker. He's quick, direct, can turn in an instant, and has a rasping shot on him.
He's a little lightweight and has been played out of position in many of his appearances. Also, playing a bit part here and there it's not been easy for him to show his true qualities. I believe these are the reasons why many on here don't rate him.
But I'm going to back him and say that by the end of the season, we'll all be waiting and wanting him to put pen to paper on a permanent deal for us.

There was a glimmer of 4. in response to Lord Sugar but here we are.

Who would you of signed on deadline day at a fair price??? LJ was brought in before Taylor was even a proven league one striker. Let's give Luke the same chance to prove he's good enough before judging him after a couple of games.

Some people have hammered me for this thread but if chelsea sold costa and replaced him with shane long there fans would go mental. Well thats exactly what we have done but 2 divisions down That's a strange comparison. Costa would go for at least £50m, and they would have spent big money to replace him because they can. Taylor went for £300k and we would have had to spend at least £1m to directly replace him, and we didn't because we can't. You're just making up a hypothetical comparison to try and prove your point which wouldn't happen in the real world.

DC has faith in him to come good, so let's all get behind him and give him some support, getting on his back isn't going to help him or the team. Taylor has gone so can we all stop trawling over the why's and wherefores and move on.... please?

Anyone get the feeling bluebutterfly is trying to get in before Tbone does.
Hate the player, then blindly criticise everything they do.
Judge him after a run of games against a cross section of the division.

23 more league goals than Matty had before he joined us.
