Is this still on? Blimey. This thread is like that show Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps: it was sh1te but they KEPT making it. Do you remember the theme tune? No. Exactly. But I do remember that it referred to crisps as "flakeys". What? When did anyone ever call crisps flakeys? I remember the tune

Listening to Geoff Dunford on Having A Gas, several things struck me.
First and foremost, he sounds to be in poor health. It was alluded to,at the start of the interview, and GD explianed he has changes his diet, lost weight and given up,alcohol and as a result was feeling a lot better. I think he must have major respiratory problems b cause he sounded like Darth Vader, gasping , spluttering and clearing his throat. I hope that he recovers his health because, with his father, he saved our club from extinction.
The second thing that struck me was the truly parlours state of the club when they took over. Insolvent in fact and should have shut down. £250k debts and the only asset was the Hambrook training ground which was valued,at £110k. They formed a company to buy Hambrook for £250k with 20 directors each contributing £12500. In that way they were able to clear the club debts!
He also said that a lot of clubs(lower leagues?) are in a worse position than Rovers because they no longer own their own stadiums. That surprised me. One thing I noticed, and I think that was very courteous of him, was that he didn't really mention the Al Quadi's, didn't say how they should spend their money etc.
I gained the impression he is a gentleman, and I would think a good source of advice for the new owners.
Things look good.

He is and always will be a gentleman in my view and can't thank him enough and his family for saving our club. Hope your health improves quickly Geoff.
