Did I miss-read the title of this thread ?. I could have sworn it originally read 'Clarke out' and not 'Still want Clarke out" I also notice it was edited by Ras 27 minutes ago

I've still got my doubts that he's the leader we need but we are improving for sure. We still need a playmaker though, so many have been talking for years about how we need a striker regardless of how many strikers we've brought in but we just need someone who will take a touch , look up, and play a killer pass. Hopefully Clarke will bring one in because without one I think the play offs are unlikely. Only 4 pts of play offs and we've just beaten the league leaders. Yes but we've only scored 5 goals in our first 6 games and we're going to have to create more if we're going to make the play offs. I'm delighted with today's result but we lack the creativity needed to be promotion contenders.

I didn't want Clarke out after the first three games - I'm quite the fan of him, actually - but I can see why some fans would. His start to his managerial reign here wasn't great to say the least and even putting that behind us and going off of his first pre-season here and first 3 games it didn't look good.
It's seemingly turned around with better performances and we are scraping wins in tough games as shown today. It's still too premature to be saying "I told you so" that he'd come good. We'll see where we are at the half way point or perhaps a quarter of the way through.

Thank god for that I though I was going mad. Thing is though changing the title of the thread hours after it is created does sort of change the context of the debate/conversation.

Which was the point I think you'll find. The OP wasn't intending to create an "I told you so" thread. As other users stated, we don't want to go down that route. A change of title does change the context to something less confrontational. Something both the OP and repsondees on this thread agreed on. Sigh.

Hopefully DC's longer term plans are gradually taking shape. We need to stop the managerial merry-go-round at some point, so let's give the walk a chance to catch up with the talk!

I don't agree with your "sigh" Hugo (and normally I agree with everything you say), or you Ras for changing it. It is a very subtle bit of manipulation (in my own personal opinion of course) to make sure the forum does not go off-topic and nasty and like that horrible other place where everyone hates DC and the Board. I think you should give the posters on here enough respect and credit to understand what a thread means, and to read the OP and subsequent posts, and to then comment. No need to subtly alter things to avoid wrong messages.

Hahahaha what a joke. Do you know why I changed it? To make it more like the OP. That's it. If you don't like it you are very free to go somewhere else. I don't think you should be suggesting members should be going somewhere else if they don't like this forum, and I think you are getting too defensive. I'll tell you why I think this. You had a great idea to set up an different forum to the Independent Forum after the Official Forum was axed. Originally it was full of friends and very much independent of anyone else, much more so than the so-called "Inddependent Forum", which is full of people with vested interests and history wth the club. And very interesting that forum is too. I post on there, but without much knowledge of the inner politics of what happened in the past. So sometimes when people post things there about off-field activities, they are shot down in flames by people who actually do or pretend to know much more about the inside workings of the club than I or many others do. So over the past few months a lot have gravitated over here. One great example is the Match Day Thread. We had about 12 pages here today. 4 on the IF. It's like the FA Cup Final. Watch and read what you want about footie, but always watch the Cup Final on the BBC. And always read the matchday thread with Cantankerous making us feel like we were actually there. Similarly with criticism. Oldie and Dinsdale and often KP are on here moaning about everything because they can see this is now a big forum for Rovers fans. Not just a happy-clappy we all love the Board laugh-in. Everyone now joins in. Moaners and tinters. I'm another one. I tend to post on here now more than the IF. A few months ago I didn't. I like the jokes, the funny pictures, the amazing optimism, and I also like to read the other side - the DC out, the NH out, the "we're doomed" stuff. And I can agree or disagree, and I can comment. And post a stupid picture without anyone saying "this is as bad as the old OF". You created this baby, Ras, and it has grown up. It has changed its character in the past 6 weeks or so as more diverse people have joined, and that is a sign of its success. I think you need to celebrate that, and congratulate yourself, and let go of the reins a little bit. This forum now has a life of its own, and doesn't need to be tinkered with. Let it grow , within the bounds of legal, decent, honest and truthful etc, sit back slap yourself on the back for a job well done, keep posting, and watch it grow.

I changed a thread title to reflect the original post better. And then this happens.
When I am accused of manipulation I will defend myself.

Anyone disagree now that three games is a rediculous amount of time to judge anyone to the extent that they should be sacked? I haven't read any replies to this OP yet. It is a strange question that you ask here. Are you only saying that, or are you saying that because we have picked up some points now that he was not in a position to be questioned after 3 games? I think that a football manager is in the running to be grilled +/- after every game, therefore if he fails throughout a 3 game streak there will be pressure on him. Likewise and in line with your question, is it not also a little soon to be asking what you did? We might flunk our next 5 games. Also bear in mind that it was not a 3 game judgment but the preseason, the last 8? games of the previous season and his transfer activity. By the way, I judge DC based on his own intentions. Top 5 at xmas and promotion this season.
